NOTD: Illamasqua Kink

Hello there!

I am back from my city trip to Hamburg! I really fell in love with this city and was sad I had to leave again. Gladly I still have a few days off and don't need to go back to work before next Tuesday. Yay, because I am so not looking forward to it...

Secondly I would like to welcome my new readers who found their way here from Kelly's Share Yourself series on her blog Vampy Varnish. Thanks for following! If there is anything particular you would like to see here or if you have any suggestions on how to improve my blog, please let me know! You can contact me by email, twitter or commenting here.

While I was on vacation in Spain some of my nail polish orders arrived - like my a-England polishes, some Orly's from a swap and a package from Illamasqua. I saw some swatches from their recent Fall/Winter Collection entitled Theatre Of The Nameless and this "kinky new waxy 'rubber-look' finish" sounded tempting to me. There are four shades available and I got two of them - Kink (green) and Faux Pas (violet blue). Today I am wearing Kink, which is a dark bottle green creme polish.

As a base coat I used Orly Bonder and afterwards applied two coats of Kink. That was enough for full opacity since this polish is richly pigmented. Texture was good, not too thin, easy to control and quickly drying. I only wished I had wrapped my tips more carefully because it appears a little thin on the tips. I didn't add any top coat to keep the polish's rubber-finish. Actually this is a matte finish to me, but not as matte as other matte polishes I have. It's somehow more shiny. Hard to describe so see for yourself.

I am sorry for the dent in my pinky finger but a couple of days ago I cut myself with a vegetable peeler - yes, I am clumsy sometimes ;-) But it's growing out pretty well and I hope to get rid of it soon.

Illamasqua nail polish and make up is available in several Selfridges and Debenhams stores across the UK as well as in Sephora stores throughout the USA and Myer stores in Australia. You can also purchase them from their online shop where they retail for GBP 13,50 per 15ml/0.5 oz bottle. They also offer international shipping.

That's my NOTD. Thanks for reading! Now I need to unpack my stuff I bought while I was in Hamburg (did some serious Lush hauling, hehe).
Have a great day,
- Sabine
