NOTD & Review: China Glaze Blue Iguana

Good afternoon!

I really wish summer had stayed a little longer this year just because there are so many summer nail polishes I haven't worn yet. In spite of the fall like weather outside I was in the mood to put on some fresh and bright color so I picked Blue Iguana from China Glazes Island Escape summer 2011 collection. I really do not know why I haven't tried this color earlier because I am completely in love with it! Well, not only with this one but with all the other colors from this collection, too.

Blue Iguana is a jelly blue base with glittery blue flecks in it. In the bottle those particles have a slight fuchsia-purple duochrome effect that doesn't show up very prominently on the nails and my camera doesn't seem to pick it up at all. Here are pictures of three coats of Blue Iguana in sunlight, shade and indoors.

Due to its jelly base you can still see some VNL but it's really not as bad as the photo makes you believe. I could have added a fourth layer to achieve full opacity but I also like it this way. I might add some glitter sponging to the tips later. Texture of the polish was great, not thick or gooey at all. So application was pretty easy and I didn't have a lot of clean up to do. Additionally, thin coats dried quickly and really shiny. Still I added one layer of top coat afterwards.

What is your favorite summer collection for this year? Are you wearing summer colors during fall/winter? Let me know!

Have a great day,
- Sabine
