Fall Favorites Series Part 6: Essie - Sexy Divide

Good evening and happy Tuesday,

I hope you had a good start into this new week!
Today I have for you one of my few Essie nail polishes. It is Sexy Divide from this years Winter collection Dive Bar. This collection features six gorgeous metallic shades but sadly Sexy Divide is the only one I own from that collection. This color is not really new because it has been released previously in their Winter 2008 collection and gladly they re-released it in 2011.
Sexy Divide is a gorgeous dark shimmery purple and I think I can even see some blue and reddish shimmer in the base color!?
I have a weakness for purples, I dare saying it's my favorite nail polish color. And this purple is just perfect for me! It's dark and vampy but not one of those 'almost black' purples. In fact it is a rather radiant color on the nails.

This first photo was taken in my lightbox and the diffuse lighting makes the polish appear a bit matte - but believe me, I put a top coat on :) This time I used OPI Rapid Dry over two coats of Sexy Divide and base coat. The two coats went on flawlessly, dried quickly and shiny. To show you that it is shiny I took some pictures under my daylight lamps without the lightbox.

Isn't this a vibrant dark purple?! In the bottle you can see the blue-reddish shimmer I was talking about. If you look closely, you can also see it on the nails. The second macro-shot is a bit overcast so you can nicely see the shimmer particles in the base polish!

Sexy Divide really makes me wanting more Essie polishes in my stash. Until now I couldn't find too many interesting Essie polishes as our perfumeries mostly carried creme shades. There's nothing wrong with creme shades, it's just that I didn't like them enough to spend so much money on them. But when I placed some orders overseas and Essie was only $4 I had to try them. And now I think I need the rest of the Dive Bar collection as well :)

In Germany Essie is exclusively sold by Douglas perfumeries for 12,95€ per 15ml bottle. In the US Essie is sold by Rite Aid, Duane Reade, CVS Pharmacy and several other drugstores I think. I am sorry I can't tell you the price, though. It's also available at various E-tailers such as Transdesign. There are some rumours Essie will become cheaper in Germany. From Spring 2012 on they will retail for 7,95€ but at the same time bottle size will be reduced to 13,5ml. More information can be found on this blog (in German).

What are your favorite Essie polishes? Can you recommend some I need to try?

Have a great day,
- Sabine
