and HAPPY TURKEY DAY to everyone! I hope you're having a great holiday with family and lots of noms :) Here in Germany we don't celebrate Thanksgiving as in the US or Canada. Instead there is a day called Erntedankfest in the beginning of October which is quite similar.
The nail polish I have in my Fall Favorites Series for you today is a shade which is perfect for the Fall I think. It is Wallis from Butter London which came out in their Fall/Winter collection 2011. The name refers to Wallis Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor, "whose third husband, Prince Edward, Duke of Windsor, formerly King Edward VIII of the United Kingdom and the Dominions, abdicated his throne to marry her." The company describes this polish as "a tarnished, metallic olive gold, as mysterious and regal as its namesake." Now let's have a look at her.
Wallis is the very first Butter London polish I bought since they were only available online until recently. Now they're sold at Douglas perfumeries in Germany, but with 16,95€ per 11ml bottle they're rather pricey. Still I just had to take this one home as it looked sooo pretty and unique. I don't have another polish like this in my stash!
This blackened golden/olive nail polish has a foil finish that just looks gorgeous on the nails! The polish itself was a bit thin but the small brush allowed for easy control and application. I used three coats here which dried quickly. However, if you apply the following coat too soon it will give you some dragging and bald spots. Base coat this time was CND Ridge Out and as a top coat I applied the Essence Top Sealer.
Oh, and please say Hi to my new nubbin. I had to file my pinkie nail down a bit because of a tear... Hope it'll grow back to normal quickly.
Here is a close-up macro shot of Wallis where you can see the foil particles in the base polish. Isn't she pretty?! ;) Even my boyfriend liked it after I put it on and he is not into golden polishes so much, haha.
I can't really say something about wearing time because I took it off at the third day. By then I had some visible tip wear but no cracks or chips.
In the US Butter London polishes are sold by Ulta and Nordstrom. You can also get them directly from butterlondon.com. They retail for $14 a bottle.
Now that I have worn Wallis I cannot wait to try the other Butter London polish I got which is British Racing Green. Hope it will be as beautiful as this one!
Too bad this month is almost over because there are so many gorgeous Fall nail polishes I could write about. But for the rest of this month I still have some beauties to show you, so stay tuned for those!
