Chevron Tape Manicure using Essie - Olé Caliente & Claire's - Galaxy

Hi and happy Wednesday!

In my last post I showed you one of my favorite Spring nail polishes this year, Olé Caliente by Essie. Sadly after one day already the manicure had several chips and visible tip wear. I remembered seeing a tutorial for a tape mani by Danny from PolishChest and thought this would be the perfect way to "recycle" this bright coral manicure ;) You can find her tutorial here. I chose Claire's Galaxy, a black with small silver glitter in it to go with Olé Caliente. I just love red and black together! And this is what it looked like after the first round of taping.

I liked how it looked with just Galaxy over it but I wanted to do a second round of taping so I put another thick coat - to get it opaque - of Olé Caliente on top. I was really pleased with the result, it almost looks a bit 3D-like. To get the chevrons I did not use scotch tape but French manicure guides that already came in this V-shape. The design was easy to do. The one thing that's crucial is to wait for the individual layers to dry. If you put the tape on too early all the polish comes off when you remove it. So it requires a bit of patience!

With this, I am leaving you for today. Tomorrow is a Holiday over here (and probably in some other countries as well) so enjoy your day off and have a great evening!
