Floam Day is here!

Hi there!

Just recently I did a manicure using the awesome Floam by Nailventurous (see here). Shortly after posting this manicure I was told some girls were planning to gather and publish all their Floam manicures on one particular day - Floam Day was born! I simply had to participate as this was the perfect opportunity to wear this beauty again - and I hardly ever wear the same polish twice in a week! Floam with its matte neon glitter looks great over other neon polishes. However I did not want to just layer it over a plain neon again. So why not make a Floam-covered neon gradient? Gradient nails are my favorite nail art trend at the moment so I could get two manicures in one ;)

I started out with three coats of China Glaze Yellow Polka Dot Bikini. Yes, three coats! I had almost forgotten how thin and runny this one is and to get it even and non-patchy I had to apply several coats. With help of Sammy's gradient tutorial I sponged Towel Boy Toy on top.... which wasn't the best idea! Towel Boy Toy was too thin and after the first round of sponging there was hardly any blue on my nails. So I had to repeat this step several times - only to experience that this shimmery neon blue did not stick well to the neon yellow. Somehow I managed to get a neon gradient but I would not recommend those polishes for sponge gradients. I layered two coats of Floam on top and finished everything off with one coat of Seche Vite, which is enough to get this matte glitter even and smooth. What I love about layering Floam over this gradient is that on the blue part of the gradient the yellow glitter pops and on the yellow part the blue glitter stands out.
Out of curiosity I later mattified the manicure with one coat of Essence Soft Touch topcoat and I fell in love with this design even more ;)

In the future there will (hopefully) be more of those themed manicure days because it is so much fun to see what others come up with. If you want to know more about Polish Days or even participate head over to Polly Polish and sign up :) Thanks again to Hannah for organizing and setting everything up!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out the other girls' Floam manicures!
