NOTD: Nubar - Absolute or: Taking a break from bright Summer colors

Good evening!

I hope your eyes have recovered from all those great Floam manicures that were blogged recently :) It was so much fun participating and seeing all your takes on a Floam mani. And thank you everyone for stopping by and commenting on my Floam post! Hours after posting this one jumped to No. 1 of my most popular posts - wow. And one more thank you to all the new readers that subscribed to my blog on that day. I hope you like it here!

So after all those neon, bright and bold manicures I did recently I thought it was time for something more decent yet summery. So I pulled out a polish from my stash that I just have to share with you! It is Nubar Absolute from the 2010 Prisms collection. This was one of my first Nubars but strangely it has been sitting in my untrieds drawer ever since. I wish I had worn this sooner because it is so pretty!

Isn't this one just lovely? Absolute is a light sky blue with a subtle holographic effect. In the shade the linear holo effect is not visible but when the sunlight hits the nails it sparkles like crazy. Yes, for those photos I went outside to take them instead of using my lightbox. The weather was so nice, I just had to take advantage of the sunlight and I think direct sunlight still brings out the best in holographic nail polishes.
Formulation of Absolute was a bit weird though. All other holos I have are very opaque and foil-esque but this one is really sheer. What you see on the pictures is three coats and there still is clearly visible nail line. The base is more of a jelly texture to me. It is translucent, a bit thick and drying took really long compared to other holos - or other polishes in general. Therefore it dried to a really shiny finish and I did not apply any top coat here! It also wears pretty well: I am having it on for three days now and apart from a bit of tipwear it is still perfect. In the end it is absolute(ly) worth the three coats for me.

So it doesn't have to be bold and bright for Summer all the time. I also like more decent shades like this one and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

Happy Friday and have a great weekend,
<3 Sabine
