Today I have for you a nail polish from one of my favorite Summer collections this year. It is Under The Boardwalk from China Glaze's Summer Neons collection. When I first saw the promo pictures of this collection I went a little 'meh', because it looked kinda similar to their Poolside Neons collection from 2010. But then the first swatches popped up and when I saw Sam's swatches on her blog Fashion Polish those polishes had easily won my heart! So I ended up ordering 10 of the 12 neons. I skipped Hang-Ten Toes and Sun Kissed, but I think I might get those two later as well ;) The first I have tried so far is Under The Boardwalk, a nice berry color.
Under The Boardwalk is one of two polishes in the Summer Neons collection without shimmer and it is not as neon as the other polishes. Still the color is really pretty and appears even brighter in daylight. I used two coats for the manicure here and you can still see some visible nail line, but I'm fine with it. Under The Boardwalk had a jelly-ish feel to it when I applied it. Yet, it wasn't as translucent as a real jelly polish but not opaque enough to be a creme finish. Texture however was thick and not the easiest to work with. At least I had some troubles getting the coats as thin as I normally do, but it is managable. In fact I like this thicker texture better than the thin and runny appearance of the Poolside Neons. A downside is that drying takes longer than for other polishes. All the neons dry to a semi-matte finish so I applied one coat of INM Out the Door to make it shiny.
China Glaze Summer Neons are available at Ulta, Sally's Beauty Supply and online at Transdesign or Head2Toe Beauty now for $3 each. I got mine from a Dutch online shop called NailPolish Fashion where they retail for 5.95€ each.
With this I am leaving you for today. Have a great Sunday and thanks for stopping by!
