I hope you're all having a great weekend so far. I feel like winter is about to arrive soon in Germany. It's been freezing cold those last couple of days and in some parts of the country there already is snow. I hope snow will stay away from here for a little longer though. As much as I love winter and the coziness that comes with it, I do not like snow, because it means traffic snarl, late and crowded trains, which make commuting to work a pain in the butt (whoops, sorry ;) but that is how it is). So I am trying to inhale those last rays of sun and enjoy the beautiful Fall sceneries before the dark season will be upon us.
Oh well, let's go on to the polish part of this post. Today's Spooktober polish has been sitting in my stash for a while and while the color itself is not really spooky, the name is what made this one a Halloween appropriate nail polish. Here is Blue-F-O by the indie polish brand The Spooky Bones Company:
Blue-F-O is a light blue base color that has a jelly-ish feel to it. It is on the sheer side and really thick. I added a few drops of thinner to make working with this a little easier. What you see is three coats and there still is some visible nail line. The base is packed with a duochrome shimmer that shifts from blue to purple. There also is holographic bar glitter as well as silver and aqua colored round glitter in there. These small glitter particles glow in the dark, which I think is pretty cool.
The only downside is that despite the thick base polish the small glitter sinks down to the bottom of the bottle. But since the bottle has a really wide neck, you can easily stir with the brush to mix the glitter back in again. Sadly this wide neck also lets the solvents evaporate easily, so it gets thick again quickly. Also, the brush that comes with this is a bit awkward to work with. It is banana shaped and it is hard to get a nice clean coat with it. However, I feel the uniqueness of Blue-F-O mades up for this, because I do not have anything like this in my stash. I also love that this is not just all sorts of glitter dispersed in a clear but tinted base.
If you want to check out The Spooky Bones Company's polishes, you can find them here on Etsy. They have lots of unique glitter polishes that retail for $8 per full-size bottle.
What do you think about indie polishes like this? Worth the hype or over the top?
Thanks for reading and come back soon :)
