Little Layering Experiment: NfuOh - 49 over BeYu - 209 Brilliant Shiraz over Confetti - Masquerade Ball
Wednesday, February 29, 2012
in my last post, where I showed you Confetti Masquerade Ball, I promised you a layering manicure and here it is :) I haven't really done a lot of layering experiments but those two polishes I used are meant to be layered over another base color.
Are you ready for some multichrome-flakie picture spam? Then read on after the jump!

Good evening everyone!
I am back again! I have not had the time to blog at least twice a week as I normally do and I am sorry for that. Life is a little crazy right now. My time in the lab is nearing the end as I will start writing my PhD thesis in the middle of April. And of course now work is piling up and my PI has lots of (good) new ideas so right now I am struggling to set up all those experiments. So yes, I am very busy at the moment and will be for the next six weeks but after that it'll get a bit better because I don't have to go to the lab but can write my thesis at home - which means I will have some more time for blogging in between ;) I have to admit that work is first priority these days but is shortly followed by nail polish and blogging! As this helps me calming down after a stressful day I will try to get up a post at least once a week until April. So please be a little patient with me these days! Still I hope you enjoy the stuff I post!
So right on to the nail polish! Today I have Confetti's Masquerade Ball for you. I got this one in a swap with the lovely Dana from Polished Claws Up and she did a great job picking those polishes for me! By the way, if you haven't already you should check out her blog as she always has some great vintage (and recent) polishes to show off ;)

A while back I ordered lots of OPI polishes from an Austrian e-tailer for little money - which was between 4 - 6€ which is really cheap considering the price is 16€ at authorized sellers here! I think OPI forced them so stop selling their products, that's while they were on sale. It is still not clear to me why this company does not want their products to be sold online... Anyway, I was surprised to find lots of polishes that have been on my wishlist for a while - including Mad As A Hatter and Absolutely Alice! Some OPI Suede polishes caught my eye as I've seen lots of pictures and their finish looked interesting - I know, matte polish is so 2010 (or was it back in 2009 already?) but still I like those. The original OPI Ink was part of the Night Brights collection released back in 2007 and is one of my favorite OPI polishes. The Suede version looks completely different from the original though!

Hi everyone and happy Sunday!
You might have realized that I made slight changes in the appearance of my blog. I removed the LinkWithin widget from the homepage so it shows up only on the post page. I added the ShareThis widget so you can now directly send a post via Twitter or Facebook. Sadly the Pinterest button does not always work properly but I hope to get that fixed soon! Do you find those tools helpful at all?
Today is kind of a special day for me as I am posting my very first bright red manicure here. This is a premiere because until yesterday I have never worn a bright red nail polish as a full manicure because... uhm, I can't even tell why. Just thought I would not like it on me. But I was proven wrong! Initially I picked up Catrice Lovely Sinner from the Welcome To Las Vegas Fall 2011 collection for a swap but then didn't swap it. So it's been sitting in my stash until my boyfriend picked this one for me this weekend. And what can I say - I admit that I really really love it!!

Working part of this week is almost over and I am really looking forward to the upcoming weekend because it's been a crazy week in the lab. For the first time in a month I am going to visit my parents again and I still need to organize a present for my dad as it is his birthday next Saturday! If only it wasn't so hard to get him something.
OK, I guess you're here for the polish and this is what you get ;) Today I have for you the very last nail polish from the Essence Crazy Good Times Trend Edition - as this company calls their limited editions. It is Colourbration which this is my absolute favorite from this collection and I'll show you why.

Good evening everyone and Happy Valentine's Day!
Looks like my series on the Essence Crazy Good Times collection is coming to an end. I saved the best for last - at least for me. I swatched Candyction, Confetteria, Paradelade and Glittertastic before and those were nice but did not really sweep me off my feet. But the last two definitly did! So first up is Princessorize, a squishy bright jelly pink with lots of pink flecks and blue shimmer.

It is Sunday again. Wow, time passes too fast these days! I have to go to the lab later today to continue an experiment I started this week - bad timing, I know. To make things worse I am still a bit tired. Last night was a friend's Bachelor party because she is going to get married in March. We were 8 girls and really had a good time having cake and dinner and we even organized a limousine ride. I've never been in such a car before but it felt great ;) The whole party lasted nine hours plus it took me a three hour train ride to get there so I fell asleep in the car when my boyfriend took me home in the night... and I still don't feel fully awake but I really would like to get something done today...
...Like showing you the fourth polish I got from the Essence Crazy Good Times Limited Edition! Reviews of Candyction, Confetteria and Paradelade can be found here, here and here. Today I am showing you Glittertastic, which is a clear base loaded with silver microglitter and larger hexagonal silver glitter. Those glitter particles are sparkling nicely when the light hits them!

Hello my dear reader
and welcome to the third part of my Crazy Good Times collection swatches! I've already reviewed Candyction and Confetteria and today I would like to show you Paradelade! This one is a black creme base with silver microglitter in it. If you have seen the other polishes from Essence's recent limited edition - which are really bold and eye-catching - you might wonder what this has to do with crazy good times... and so do I! Somehow I feel this nail polish looks a little misplaced among the glittery, flakie and glass flecked pinks, yellow and blue. Still I decided to give this one a chance and I took it home. Here it is!

In my last post I showed you Candyction from Essence's recent Limited Edition Crazy Good Times and today I have for you another polish from that collection. Confetteria is a beautiful royal blue jelly with large hexagonal blue and small round silver and turquoise glitter in it. When I saw this in store it reminded me of Blue Addicted from their Color&Go standard range. When I compared those two polishes at home they were pretty different though because Confetteria lacks the green hex glitter and the base is more blue and not as dusty as in Blue Addicted.

Happy Sunday everyone!
I hope you're having a great weekend so far! Here it is still pretty cold so I spent most of it snuggled up in blankets with a hot cup of tea on the couch. This cold weather is also messing with my cuticles. They've been pretty dry lately and I am moisturizing like crazy - my colleagues are already laughing at me because I reach for my hand lotion a dozen times a day ;) Speaking of hand care: Would my fellow readers be interested in a series about the products I use?! Let me know via the comments please!
Today I have for you the first polish of the latest Essence Limited Edition called Crazy Good Times. This refers to the carnival season coming up here and so this collection carries lots of rather crazy stuff like fake lashes, body tattoo stamps or body glitter as well as nailpolishes in eye-catching colors. And so is Candyction, a vibrant neon flakie polish!

today I have a short post for you where I layered Essence's Mystic Mermaid over Catrice's New York. Sadly both polishes are not available anymore because they were limited edition or have been discontinued by now.
New York was part of Catrice's Big City Life LE and is a blue-ish grey color. This was opaque with one coat and had a shiny finish! Mystic Mermaid was one of Essence's Special Effect Toppers and is a lot of silver microglitter in a clear base. There is a bit of turquoise and pink glitter as well. The effect is pretty intense but the Topper is also quite opaque with one coat. Yet I like it a lot and I think it will look different over different base colors.
That's my quickie post for today, thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

I hope it is warm where you are. Here it's been freeeeezing cold for the last couple of days and weatherforecast says it'll get even colder by the end of this week. Yikes. Too bad that I'm someone who feels cold quickly and I can't stand frosty temperatures at all. I better have a hot cup of tea and cuddly blankets within reach the next days.
Today I have for you The Black Knight by Butter London. This was released as part of their Holiday 2011 collection and even though it was pricey I had to buy it. I mean it is black, it has glitter... what else do I need?
