Nail Polish Favorites 2013

Hi everyone,

long time no read. I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas time! I came back from the US in the evening of the 22nd, so I was still quite jetlagged during our family celebrations, but now it looks like I've finally adapted to German time again. Btw, let me know of you would like to see some impressions from my trip to New Orleans and wintery New York City!
Today is the last day of the year. Wowza, where did 2013 go? It flew by way to fast for my liking, but I am kinda glad to leave the old year behind and start over again in 2014. May it bring lots of good moments (and maybe a new job ;) ). So today it is time to share with you my favorite manicures of this past year. I listed them in no particular order. Enjoy!

Laissez les bons temps rouler

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to say goodbye for a few days. I will be leaving for a scientific meeting in New Orleans and some Christmas shopping in NYC on Friday morning. I have been looking forward to this trip for weeks now. We have a busy schedule for the meeting, but I hope I can find some time to take a tour around the city and eat some gumbo and jambalaya :D

On December 18th I am going to New York City and will return to Germany on the 22nd. So I'll probably be jet-lagged on Christmas... Additionally, this trip keeps me from creating more Christmas manicures for you, but to be honest, these are sacrifices that I am willing to make ;) I will try my very best to share some impressions on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter with you, so make sure you are follwing me there!

Wishing you all a nice evening, talk again soon!

[Festive Nails] Zoya Pixie Dust ~ Chyna

I hope you're all having a cozy second advent! I baked some cookies and gingerbread men to give to friends and family on Christmas. I love baking, if only the kitchen wasn't a complete mess afterwards that takes forever to clean, lol.
December is the month of festive manicures, but I've been very busy and short on time those past days. Zoya Pixie Dust in Chyna is the perfect quick Holiday manicure.

[Festive Nails] Christmas Candy manicure

Hello everyone!

It is that time of the year again! Last weekend I pulled out the Christmas decorations, bought new candles and tried to make everything nice and cozy. We won't set up a tree this year, as we'll be away most of the Holidays visiting family and friends, so I had to compensate for the lack of a tree with other home decor ;) Of course my nails had to join the gingerbread man, gnomes and poinsettias. Ever since I got my MoYou order, I was itching to try these plates. So I picked a pattern from Princess plate 12, a white base color and my favorite red polish and stamped away. Let me warn you, I am taking baby steps at stamping and these nails are for from being perfect. Still I love the look of them so I thought I might as well share them with you.

[Dupe Alert] Manhattan ~ Visions of me Sugar Effect Nail Polish

Hi there,

I hope you all had a nice weekend, lots of food on Thanksgiving and a relaxing first advent! Did you go shopping on Black Friday and get some good deals?
When I was recently sent the newest Manhattan limited edition called Visions Of Me Sugar Effect Nail Polish, I couldn't help but think of OPI Liquid Sand and Kiko Sugar Mat polishes (I already compared these here). The shades looked so familiar to me. So I dug through my stash and did a little comparison for you. The collection consists of three shades with a glittery textured finish.

OPI Bond Girls ~ Tiffany Case

Hello world,

welcome to episode 593.624 of Sabine loving textured polishes :D Starring today is Tiffany Case from the OPI Bond Girls collection. The color is a pretty metallic light blue in the bottle. I was surprised to see it leaning more green on the nails, so it looked more like an aqua color. Either way I love this a lot!

[Haul] MoYou London Stamping Plates

Hi everyone!

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen me posting my newest nail polish stamping plates already. So far the only stamping plates I own are a few Essence plates and the Bundle Monster 2012 set. Sadly I pretty much suck at stamping, that is why you never see me posting stamped manicures. I do love to look at these gorgeous full nail designs and color combos and have always envied the stamping skills of my fellow bloggers. Then I heard about the MoYou XL stamper, which is supposed to be extra squishy and makes stamping especially on curved nails easier. So I went looking for that stamper and came across MoYou's super cute image plates. It was love at first sight and I had a hard time limiting myself to only three plates. Just a few days after I had placed my order, the plates were in the mail and I loved them even more in person. Call me crazy, but without even trying them, I ordered five more plates the next day. So here is a bit of a picture spam to show you my MoYou haul :)

Rival De Loop ~ Perfect Rainbow

Good evening!

What is everyone up to this Sunday? I am sitting here in my PJ pants blogging away, still recovering from some sickness.
Today I have for you a brand that is completely new to my stash. It is from Rival De Loop, Rossmann's own-brand. That brand offers some nice skin and body care items, but I never paid much attention to their make up products, as I find them to be a bit cheap looking and not very appealing. That changed when I saw the polish Perfect Rainbow swatched on Conny's blog. The next day, I stopped by my local Rossmann drugstore and was lucky enough to find a bottle of this multichrome beauty.

Barry M Hi-Shine Gelly ~ Watermelon & CND ~ Sheer 24K Sparkle

Hi loves,

are you excited for the weekend? I am, because I need some time off to recover. I've been sick for a couple of days now and a busy work schedule did not really help make me feel better. This weekend I am going to stay in bed with my PJs, a hot tea and a hot water bottle.
So today I have a rather quick post for you, but I have to show this polish to you because I love it so much. This is Watermelon from the Gelly Hi-Shine range by Barry M. I have raved about these earlier (see Passionfruit and Key Lime and Lychee) and this one is just as perfect.

Zoya ~ Valerie

Hello everyone,

welcome back to another Monday. I hope all of you had a fun weekend! I didn't do much but sleep in late and relax, since this past week was really busy. There is nothing like a peaceful pampering Sunday, right?!
I finally pulled out a nail polish brand I haven't worn in ages it seems - Zoya! I really like their polishes, still I own only around 10 of them. The main problem is that they're really hard to get hold of here in Germany. There are only very few e-tailers that stock the brand and the ones that do are expensive IMHO. So I hope I will be able to find some new Zoyas while I am in the US next month - can't wait! The polish I wore recently was Valerie from the Fire & Ice winter 2010 collection

Empties Vol.1

Hi peeps,

today I have a different kind of post for you. I want to share my trash with you :D That is the face/body/hand/nail care products I finished recently. I find that only after using a product for quite some time I can give a thorough review on it, since some products need some time in order to work (such as face cream). This post is not only nail related, so if you can't stand seeing other items on a nail polish based blog, feel free to click 'x' (still I hope you'll stay until the end of this post). And without further ado, let's dive right into my trash can.

OPI ~ Alcatraz... Rocks

Hi y'all,

I hope you aren't tired of textured polishes, yet. I know they have been on every blog, from every brand for weeks (or even months) now. I just can't stay away from them, I love the combination of glitter and the textured surface - well, except for these horrid China Glaze and Essie shades. So the last sand style polish that made in into my stash was OPI - Alcatraz... Rocks from their San Francisco collection for Fall 2013.

Review ~ BornPrettyStore 2 Way Nail Art Polish Pen

Hi everyone,

today I have for you a review of the 2 Way Nail Art Polish Pen from BornPrettyStore. This is not a usual review, where I would normally do some sort of nail design and incorporate their items, like I did in my Halloween Drag Marble for example. After playing around with this nail art pen, I just couldn't justify using it on a manicure and in a moment you will read why. Since this item was sent to me for an honest review, I wanted to share my experiences and thoughts with you, even though or despite the fact that it isn't a product I like. But keep in mind that only because a product didn't work for me, it might still work for you. So let me know your experiences with the product in case you have tried it!

Cadillacquer ~ Fireflies

Good evening everyone

and happy Friday! Do you have fun plans for the weekend? Tomorrow I am finally going to the hairdresser to get a long overdue hair cut. Maintaining a pixie cut in good shape requires quite some time and money, lol. I am thinking about going back to a happy fire truck red color. I so love red hair, but maybe it is not a good idea to dye my hair bright red whilst applying for a new job?! Guess I will decide spontaneously while I am there :)

Today I want to share with you my very first European independent polish. I don't know why, but there seem to be only very few indie polish makers here in Europe - or maybe I just haven't heard of them. One quite well known "brand" by now is Cadillacquer, which first caught my attention with her Dexter collection (she released three collections before this though). For Halloween this year she created two limited edition shades, one of which I will show you today.

Stocking Skittle Manicure

Hello everyone,

in my last New In My Stash post I told you I had finally picked up Fishnet Stockings from Essie. It has been on my wish list for quite some time, but I just couldn't get my hands on it. Luckily, here in Germany it was re-released as part of their Russian Roulette collection and this time I could not pass on this nail polish. It is a perfect true deep red that goes well with my pale skin tone. I find that blue toned reds suit me much better than orange-y reds. Anyways, to make this color a bit more "work appropriate", I decided to pair it with Sally Hansen Stocking Nude from their last Designer collection as well as Butter London's Tarte With A Heart, which has been sitting in my untrieds drawer forever, whoops.

Sally Hansen ~ Go Baroque Collection

Hi everyone,

I hope you're all having a great weekend so far! Today I have for you the latest Sally Hansen limited edition. It is called Go Baroque and is inspired by the opulence and elegance of this historical era. It contains six glamorous shades with various finishes. It is available now in selected German Müller, DM and Rossmann stores and a bottle retails for 8,99€. This collection features some gems, so let's have a closer look, shall we?!

Halloween Skittle Nails

Happy Halloween everyone!

It is that time of the year and again I wish Halloween was bigger here (or I was living in the US instead). I can't help but love the costumes, parties, decorations and food that come with Halloween. Even though I am not celebrating, at least my nails should have a little Halloween party. So I pulled out the orange and purple polishes, sponges, stamping plates and gave it a go. Uhm, wait... did I just say stamping plates?! Yup, I am taking baby steps at this nail art and I hope that I'll be able to master the technique in the future. At the moment I am still struggling to find the perfect polish and stamper for my needs. So these skittles are far from being perfect, but I hope you will enjoy them anyway. I surely do ;)

Halloween-ish Drag Marble Manicure

Hello everyone,

with Halloween just around the corner, I decided it was time to wear something related to the theme on my nails. When I saw Sammy's Halloween Patchwork Nail Art, I fell in love with the color combination. Bright orange, purple and green go perfectly together and these colors represent Halloween for me. Since I was short on time, I went with something quick and easy and did a drag marble with orange and purple polish, before I added some bright green studs to spice things up a bit.

#instafood Vol.1 ~ Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

Hi ya!

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far! Today I want to introduce another series here on My Polish Stash. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I like to post foodie things from time to time. So I will be sharing with you a few of the recipes from my instafood photos every once in a while. When I recently posted my self-made Pumpkin Spice Latte, quite a few of you wanted to know the recipe.
After hearing people rave about this drink, I had to run to my local Starbucks and try it as soon as it had finally found its way to the German stores this Fall. Maybe I was expecting too much, but PSL wasn't exactly my cup of tea. It was incredibly sweet and didn't taste like pumpkin to me. The girl at the counter even told us it doesn't contain anything real pumpkin, only flavored syrup. Bummer! So I decided to make one myself at home, with less sugar and artificial flavor and more real pumpkin taste. After browsing Pinterest for inspiration, I tried mixing my own PSL and this it what I ended up with.

OPI ~ Here Again, Aragon Tomorrow

Good evening ladies and gents!

I was feeling a bit nostalgic recently, so I dug out my Alice In Chains songs and painted my nails with OPI Here Again, Aragon Tomorrow. This color along with Suzi Skis In The Pyrenees from La Coleccion De España (aka Spain collection) was my first OPI nail polish back in 2009. It is still one of my favorite polishes to wear during Fall.

New In My Stash Vol. 5

Happy hump day!

I haven't done my monthly New In My Stash posts in a while. The last one was in July and I did not buy a lot during August and September to show you a haul post. Thus, I figured I will do a collective "What's new in my stash" post every once in a while instead of monthly. I already showed you the things I got during my holidays in Spain. In this post, I will show you the other polishes that made it into my collection recently. This time, I did not include any make up, since I did not buy anything new. I need to play with what I have first and also I need to safe some money for my trip to the US in December ;)

Kiko Laser Nail Lacquer ~ 436 Strong Chocolate

Hello everyone,

I hope all of you had a great weekend! I had a good time celebrating my mom's birthday and enjoying this beautiful Fall weekend. It was 20°C here with lots of sunshine, which is quite rare for October over here.
On my last trip to a Kiko store I spied their latest limited edition called Dark Heroine. I really like Kiko's nail polishes, the colors and quality are usually pretty good. But since I am trying to be more picky with my purchases and not get any colors I might already have similar ones of in my collection, I ended up only getting the dark brown called 436 Strong Chocolate from this collection. If you've been following me for a while, you might know that I am not a fan of brown nail polishes. Actually, it is my least favorite color, as most of the times brown looks like *you know what* on my nails. But this one is different and I found myself liking this a whole lot!

Wishing you all a great weekend!

Kiko Sugar Mat ~ Burgundy 645

Happy hump day!

It is Wednesday already and I hope the last two days of this week will fly by as fast as these first three did. My boyfriend has to work in Poland this whole week, so I am home alone. While I do like spending time by myself, I miss cooking with him or the teas and hot water bottles he usually brings me while I am chilling (in the literal sense of the word, lol) on the couch in the evening ;) So this evening I am passing my time editing photos and writing blog posts.

One of my favorite polishes this Fall is Burgundy 645 from Kiko's Sugar Mat collection. The Sugar Mats were their take on textured polishes and Kiko did a really good job with these. I say 'were' because I think they were discontinued a few weeks ago. When I went to a shop to pick up Burgundy, they were all on sale and most of them had already sold out. So I am sorry if I am teasing you with a polish you probably can't get anymore. But Burgundy is just too pretty not to share with you!

Spain Haul ~ Nail Polish, Make Up & Perfume

Happy Sunday gals,

I hope you all are having a great weekend so far! Today is a lazy day for me. This whole Sunday is dedicated to taking new pics for the blog, edit images, write posts and relax. If there is enough time left, I might even be able to catch up on my YouTube subscriptions. Actually there is not a lot I can do today, since I've been having some stupid pain in the back since yesterday. On Saturday I did some major Spring... errr, Fall cleaning and we set up a new couch table and a shoe rack we got from Ikea. My nails and back suffered quite a bit, but at least my home is nice and clean now.
So today I can finally share my holiday haul from Spain with you. Surprisingly, I did not buy a whole lot of nail polish. I could not find an brands that were exclusive to Spain (or maybe I just did not know about them) and brands such as L'Oreal, OPI, Bourjois etc. were as expensive as here. So I focused on things I cannot get in Germany or deals that were too good to pass on. Let's have a look!

China Glaze ~ Strap On Your Moonboots

Hi lovelies!

One of the last polishes I wore before I went on holiday was Strap On Your Moonboots from China Glaze's Hologlam collection. You just have to wear holographic polishes when the sun is out, as direct sunlight brings out the best in these nail polishes. Plus, they're perfect for when you are short on time but want to paint your nails. Usually holo polishes are opaque with max two coats and you don't need a top coat.

Impressions from Andalusia

Hello everyone,

long time no see. It's been quite a while since I last posted something on my blog. I was on holiday most of September and during this time, I decided to not only take a break from work, but also from everyday life, including blogging and even painting my nails. I simply had to clear my head and recharge my batteries after a busy and stressful time. The only downside of taking a break from polishing is, that I do not have any swatches to show you. So I thought I'd share with you some impressions from my trip to Andalusia. It is such a nice area and I can only recommend going there once in your life if you can. It's not as crawling with tourists as Mallorca for example and still shows the "real" Spanish way of life. I hope you enjoy this little (picture heavy) impression from southern Spain :)

[Guest Post] Bridget from LuxeBeautyForever

I am so excited and honored to be able to do a guest post on Sabine's blog! I've been following 'My Polish Stash' for several years now and have always been inspired by Sabine's manicures (and lets face it her nails are to die for!).

Today, I have a fun manicure featuring 2 coats of Liquid Sky Lacquer 'Shanel's Cyan' and 'Sugared Berries'. I kept in mind that Sabine's blog is based out of Germany so I wanted to make sure I featured polishes that were available internationally! You can purchase these polishes at Mei Mei's Signatures (based out of Singapore) and they will be available soon from Rainbow Connection (based out of the UK).

[Guest Post] Anna's Peanutbutter & Jelly Pies

Hello everyone!

My name is Anna. Some of you might know me as @Yoosie2808 from Twitter or yoosie2808 from Instagram. I am 29 years old and one of “those Beauty-Girls”… ;)

I have been knowing Sabine since 2011 by a mutual friend and when she asked for some guest bloggers while she is on vacation, I was like “Hell yeah!”…
First I wanted to do some Halloween nailart, but I had to shorten my nails so much that every nailart would just not turn out the way I like it. So I decided to bring some Yumminess to this blog.
Both, Sabine and I have a faible for American food and so I decided to try some PB&J Mini Tartes (PeanutButter & Jelly).

[Guest Post] Karine from Nailderella

Hi everyone,

Karine from Nailderella writing on My Polish Stash! I was so honored when Sabine asked me to write a guest post for her, while she is away on holidays. By the way, I hope Sabine is having great holidays! I love reading Sabine's blog because her nails are so beautiful and she always does pretty nail art and uses great polishes! Yep, she's the kind of girls that makes you want everthing she's wearing!!

For today's post I did a mix 'n' match manicure! In fact, I saw Penélope Luz doing this kind of nail art and loved it so much that I took inspiration from her! You can read her blog post HERE.

So here it is! I hope you'll like it ;D

[Guest Post] Kellytattoo

Hello fellow nail polish enthusiasts!

I was so excited when the lovely and talented Sabine asked me to do a guest blog spot for her, I couldn't be happier to oblige! I thought long and hard on what nail polish I wanted to feature and I finally decided on OPI "Get Your Number". This is a beautiful glitter filled blue polish from their Mariah Carey collection. I'm not sure why this lovely lacquer sat in my untried stash for so long but what a mistake that was because I couldn't love it more! If you haven't tried any of the liquid sand polishes by OPI you are truly missing out. I'm not usually a big fan of texture polishes but these gritty finish polishes are very easy to work with, durable and very striking. I will show you pictures of a manicure using the polish without top coat and then pictures with top coat. I hope you like it as much as I do!

[Guest Post] Deborah from Love. Varnish, Chocolate and More

Hi loves!
My name is Deborah and I am one of 2 people writing for Love. Varnish, chocolate and more... It is an honor for me to be writing here today on My Polish Stash. I've been following Sabine's blog for quite some time now and I just love her pretty long nails and gorgeous pictures!

I prepared a nice tape manicure for today featuring a shade I hadn't used before: Bondi Uptown Girl. This was 1 of the polishes I received in my August subscription box and I must admit: I wasn't as excited for this one as I was for some others. I don't wear lilacs too often and shades like these sometimes make your hands look all red, too.

[Guest Post] Marisa from Polish Obsession

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

I'm so happy to be able to share a guest post on Sabine's blog!  I always love seeing her beautiful nails and it's an honor to share with you all.

I wanted to do something simple, yet unique.  Here's what I came up with.

I started off with a base of Revlon Gray Suede.  I then used a makeup sponge to create a gradient with Nails Inc Power Pink. Finally, I used my dotting tool to add dots of Gray Suede and Power Pink. I topped off this mani with Seche Vite.

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
I love the subtle shimmer from Gray Suede and these colors go really well together.  It's a fun mani without being too in your face.

What do you guys think of this mani?  Have you ever done gradients and dots?

Thanks for having me Sabine!

I really like this delicate and classy manicure Marisa. Thank you so much for creating this design for me! For more of her pretty nails, head over to her blog Polish Obsession!

[Guest Post] Bregje from Oooh, Shinies!

Hi everyone,

today lovely Bregje from Oooh, Shinies! with her amazing stamping skills is helping me out. Please give her a warm welcome and enjoy her post :)

Hi all!
Let me start this guest post by saying thank you to Sabine for having me on her lovely blog, it's great to be here! :) When Sabine asked me, I said yes straight away (or well, I did so in my head but actually forgot to mail her back, oops >.<) but then I started to wonder what to make for My Polish Stash. I had some nailart tries which didn't turn out exactly as I'd like, and then I decided to just stick with what always works well for me, a subtle stamped mani. And because I didn't use Tongue & Chic for stamping yet, the choice for a stamping polish was easy. Just like several other polishes from the China Glaze Autumn Nights collection, this thing stamps great! And it has exactly what I love in a stamping polish, depending on the basecolor it can look subtle, but it comes to life when the light hits it <3

Catrice How I Matt Your Mother with China Glaze Tongue & Chic and Pueen plate 13.

I hope you enjoyed my post here, thanks again Sabine and I hope you're having a wonderful holiday right now! :)

Thank you Bregje for another wonderful stamping design! I cannot wait for all the Fall collections to come out and your swatch of Tongue & Chic really made me curious :)

[Guest Post] Danny from Polish Chest

Hi gals,

I’m Danny from Polish Chest. I’m from Germany - just like Sabine. And I had the pleasure of meeting her in real life a few times. So I’m super happy I can guest post on her amazing blog.

I was thinking a lot about what kind of manicure I can show you. And because I’m a fan of super simple things when it comes to manicures and nail designs, I thought I should give a half moon manicure a try. Now this is my first attempt at such a manicure. And I hope you’ll like it.

The colors I’ve used are China Glaze For Audrey - a cult classic - and butterLONDON Shag - the prettiest bronze I’ve seen so far.
I can’t wait to read your comments and see if you liked my holiday replacement for Sabine.

And Sabine, thank you so much for having me! I hope you can enjoy your holidays overseas and buy a lot of new polishes!

Thank you so much for this great manicure Danny! I always love how neat your tape designs come out and I am really digging this unusual color combination. And even though I am not spending my holidays overseas this time (I do wish I was though), I will surely come back with a few nice nail polishes from Spain ;)

[Guest Post] Jen from The Nail Polish Project

Good evening everyone,

please welcome Jen from The Nail Polish Project as the very first guest blogger on My Polish Stash. I was so honored when she agreed to do a manicure for my blog. Jen was my very first nail crush when I first started out collecting nail polish and I've adored her nails and manicures ever since.

When the lovely Sabine from My Polish Stash recently invited me to write a guest post for her while she was on holiday and taking a break, I jumped at the opportunity. Sabine and I started blogging around the same time and I absolutely love her blog. Her nails are very similar to mine and we have similar tastes too... I can't count how many times I've seen her post a polish I've just bought or was on the verge of buying!
I wanted to do something special for my guest post so I rolled out my stamping plates....only to stare at them for half an hour without a single idea!  Finally I decided to do a manicure inspired by our countries....nope still nothing came to me.  Ok. what about polishes inspired by our coutries....yes! I can do that.  And this is what I ended up with.

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to quickly let you know that My Polish Stash is taking a break through September. I haven't been on a proper holiday for two years now and I really need some time off from work and everyday life. I am going to the South of Spain for a while, Andalusia to be exact. I cannot wait to be near the sea again and enjoy the (hopefully) sunny weather.
Thus, I won't be posting new manicures this month. Instead, I asked some fellow nail polish enthusiasts to help me out with some guest posts. Please give them all a warm welcome and I am sure you will enjoy their manicures as much as I do! I will be back at the end of the month with some new inspiration.

Wishing you all a great September and see you soon!

[Swatches & Review] ~ Sally Hansen Designer Limited Edition

Happy Friday lovelies!

Today I have a little swatchathon for you. For this year's New York Fashion week the nail polish brand Sally Hansen cooperated with three designers Rodarte, Prabal Gurung and Tracy Reese to create their new Designer collection. The result are six stylish colors with various finishes: there are cremes, jellies and a foil polish. I must admit I am not a fashion victim and I haven't heard of these designers before, but I can see these nail polishes going well with lots if different outfits this Fall. Let's have a closer look.

Manhattan Community Colors ~ Cross-Berry

Hi everyone,

today I want to share with you one of my very few Manhattan nail polishes. I rarely pay attention to their nail polishes as the colors are rather boring to me. Every now and then though, Manhattan comes up with an interesting limited edition they created in association with fashion gurus (remember the blogger collection last year). Their newest LE is called Community Colors, which features 20 nail polishes that were developed via "crowdsourcing": a community of nail polish lovers created various colors of which the 20 most popular ones made it into this limited edition. And finally, Manhattan ventured out of their creme-finish comfort zone and released glitter, foil and jelly polishes, so I was excited to see these. I ended up getting only one polish which seemed the most unique to me. The color I chose was Cross-Berry, a muted purple with green shimmer and tiny multichrome flakes. It is so complex and hard to describe, so let's have a closer look :)
