I am back with another polish from OPI's Holiday collection 2012. This collection is inspired by 50 years of James Bond movies and named after the newest movie Skyfall. Although I am not a big fan of James Bond (honestly, I cannot stand Daniel Craig, sorry), I still love this collection a whole lot. After I was overwhelmed by Live And Let Die, I had high expectations for the other members of the collection. So next I tried Skyfall, the eponym of the collection. Read on after the jump to find out if Skyfall has met my expectations.
Skyfall is a maroon creme color. This color might neither be very interesting nor too unique, but I have nothing like this in my collection. That is, because I am absolutely no fan of brown shades on my nails. I think it looks....weird. This one however has enough red in it, which makes it absolutely wearable for me. In fact, I really love this color on my nails and it is a perfect shade for Fall. The only letdown was the formulation. While I adored the opacity and texture of Live And Let Die, this was the opposite. Maybe my dislike for Daniel Craig was meant to be some kind of premonition, lol. Skyfall was thin and a bit runny. It also went on patchy, so I had to do three thin coats to get it opaque and even. It also did not wear as well as Live And Let Die and started chipping 24 hours after application. While I am not overly pleased with the quality of this nail polish, I'd wear it again nonetheless, because the color has really grown on me. Maybe it will behave differently over another base coat or with another top coat (here I used Nail Magic as a base and CND Speedey as my top coat).
Is this color something you would wear on your nails? And what do you think about brown shades in general? Let me know!
Thank you for reading, I hope to see you next time.
