Little Kiko Haul

Happy hump day lovelies!

In my last post I briefly mentioned that I was on Cologne last week to do a little shopping. Of course I had to visit the Kiko store and check out what's new. I have been eyeing their Sugar Mats polishes for a while, because I have really been digging the textured finish lately. They also have a new Summer collection out called Fierce Spirit. While I spotted many pretty colors, reason did triumph for once and I did not buy a whole lot. I am currently trying to cut down on my nail polish budget since I have been splurging too much lately. So here is my small, yet pretty Kiko haul (do three nail polishes even count as a haul?!).

All the swatches below are two coats without base or top coat to show you the real appearanc of the polishes. Pictures were taken outside in natural light.

First up is number 391 from Kiko's standard range. This bright grassy green immediately caught my eye. It is such a fun color for Spring and Summer and is appropriately named Grassy Green. The finish is somewhere between a jelly and a creme, aka crelly. It is more opaque than a jelly but not as translucent as a jelly. I did two coats here, but should have done a third to get full coverage. 391 Grassy Green dried to a very shiny finish.

I especially liked the shimmery Sugar Mats polishes, but I ended up getting only two of them. After trying them I almost regretted not buying one or two other shades, but I wanted to test drive them first and see how they perform before spending too much money on them. And let me tell you, they performed well! One of the two Sugar Mats I bought is 640 Poppy Red. This isn't exactly red, but more of a corally orange with golden sparkles.

The other one I picked up is 643 Spring Green, another appropriately named shade. My swatch came out a bit more cool toned than it really is. My camera just couldn't capture it right and likes to pull out the blue tones (and I suck at color adjusting with Photoshop, sorry). It is a midtone green with golden shimmer. Like Poppy Red, this one applied nicely and dried fast. However, I found the finish was not as matte and "gritty" as Poppy Red.

I am so happy I could restrict myself to only three polishes this time. I just couldn't justify getting more, as I already have lots of untrieds waiting to be painted onto my nails. Plus, I need to be more picky with my purchases and avoid getting polishes that are too similar to ones I already have.

However, I am always open to new ideas and suggestions, so tell me, what are your favorite Kiko nail polishes I should check out?

Thanks for reading, until next time!
