Polish Days - To Boldly Go...

These are the manicures of the blogger, Sabine.
It's an endless mission.
To explore colorful new worlds.
To seek out new shades and new finishes.
To boldly go where no nail has gone before.

Welcome everyone,

to another episode of Polish Days, the monthly nail blogger series where we create manicures according to a theme that the lovely Hannah from Polly Polish chooses. And this month's theme is Sci-Fi. I've never been a Star Trek or Star Wars fan. I did watch the original Star Wars episodes with Harrison Ford and also saw most episodes of Enterprise, but that's about it.
But then, a favorite book of mine came to my mind - it might not really be sci-fi, but I've never been a fan of stereotyped thinking, either. That book is The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams. This book has been adapted into a movie in 2005, but I strongly recommend reading the books or watching the BBC series from the 70's (it's hilarious)! My first plan to recreate some images from the book cover failed horribly, so due to lack of time I went with something simple. This is Nerd Lacquer's Hyperspace Bypass, the reason the earth is blown to kingdom come and the start of the adventures of Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect. I mean the street, not the nail polish, although Nerd Lacquer is capable of creating quite some havoc, too ;)

Amanda, the brain behind Nerd Lacquer, describes her polishes best, so here is what she has to say about Hyperspace Bypass:
HYPERSPACE BYPASS is a huge yellow something that hovers on your nails in much the same way that bricks don't. Loaded with silvery holo shimmer, plus black, gold, and holographic glitter, it’ll disintegrate every other polish in your collection.
I know yellow isn't the most flattering shade on me. It clashes with my skintone and gives me lobster hands. Still I love this polish so much and today's Polish Days event was the perfect excuse to finally wear it ;)
This is three coats on its own. Due to the yellow jelly base, there is a teeny tiny bit of VNL, but my camera only makes it look worse than it really is in real life. My camera did not pick up the sparklyness (is that even a word?!) of this polish, but you get an idea of it in the blurry pic.

So that is my Sci-Fi based Polish Days manicure for June 2013. I hope you enjoyed it.
