Spain Haul ~ Nail Polish, Make Up & Perfume

Happy Sunday gals,

I hope you all are having a great weekend so far! Today is a lazy day for me. This whole Sunday is dedicated to taking new pics for the blog, edit images, write posts and relax. If there is enough time left, I might even be able to catch up on my YouTube subscriptions. Actually there is not a lot I can do today, since I've been having some stupid pain in the back since yesterday. On Saturday I did some major Spring... errr, Fall cleaning and we set up a new couch table and a shoe rack we got from Ikea. My nails and back suffered quite a bit, but at least my home is nice and clean now.
So today I can finally share my holiday haul from Spain with you. Surprisingly, I did not buy a whole lot of nail polish. I could not find an brands that were exclusive to Spain (or maybe I just did not know about them) and brands such as L'Oreal, OPI, Bourjois etc. were as expensive as here. So I focused on things I cannot get in Germany or deals that were too good to pass on. Let's have a look!
Let us start with the few nail polishes I got. First up is OPI Alcatraz Rocks from their current San Francisco collection. This was the only shade of the collection that spoke to me. I still think Muir Muir On The Wall is nice, too, but it is not unique enough for me to buy it. Only when I was at home I realised I already have something similar to Alcatraz Rocks (didn't I just talk about not getting polishes that are similar to ones I already have?!). P2 has a sand style polish in 050 Confidential, which looks very similar, but they aren't dead-on-dupes.

The second and last polish I bought was Watermelon from the Barry M Gelly line. Watermelon is a rich deep teal color. I simply adore these creme polishes, they're super pigmented and extra shiny (they're not jellies though in case you were wondering). By now, I have 5 of them and I really hope they come out with more shades in the future.

Next up are a few make up items I got in Sevilla, the capital of Andalusia and a really beautiful city! In El Corte Inglés, one of Spain's largest department stores, I came across the beauty department and spotted some lipsticks I have been lusting after for a while. With lipsticks being by far my favorite make up item, I simply had to pick these up :) On of them is Fuchsia Flash from the Maybelline Vivids range. I fell in love with this lippie right after I saw the first swatches on blogs and YouTube and was praying for them to arrive in German drugstores, too. Sadly, we got only two of the Vivids and Fuchsia Flash wasn't one of them (boo!).

Another lipstick, or rather Chubby Stick type lipcolor, that got quite some buzz among the beauty community, was Bourjois' Color Boost Glossy Finish Lipstick in Peach On The Beach. The color and texture are really nice. I can't see myself wearing this shade during Fall/Winter, but it will be perfect for Spring.

In the same store I stumbled upon a display of Balmy Glosses, L'Oreal's take on a Chubby Stick. I have never seen these in German drugstores before, so it seems Spain got them before us. They seem to be on stores here by now, I still haven't found them though. Anyways, I got the shade 912 Sin For Peach (which seems to be called Peach Pleasure in other countries?!). It doesn't look very peachy, but rather like a dusky pink. It also has some golden shimmer particles, which I don't overly like, but it doesn't bother me too much either. What does bother me is the smell of this. It is hard to describe, but it smells very chemically and not pleasant at all. Meh. The Bourjois lip crayon smells so much better!

While being in Andalusia, we also drove to Gibraltar, which is British overseas territory. There still are lots of political issues, as Spain asserts a claim to the territory. So the British try to hassle the Spanish government by uber strict customs control. Getting in and out of Gibratar by car can take several hours, which is especially annoying for people living in Spain, but working in Gibraltar. Still it's worth going there! Gibraltar is a good shopping destination, because all goods are VAT free *yay* So I picked up two perfumes, which were on my wishlist. The first one is the new Boss scent Jour. I haven't been aware of this until a friend told me about it. So I tried it in my local perfumery and really liked it. For me, it is a great all-year-round-safe-for-work-scent.

The second perfume I picked up was Manifesto by Yves Saint Laurent. This is a pretty heavy scent, perfect for Fall and right up my alley! I just couldn't justify the German price tag and I was glad to find it for a good price in Gibraltar!

The final product I bought in my holidays was this Chanel cream blush in the color 64 Inspiration. Again, I tried this one in German stores before, but thought it was too expensive. In Gibraltar it was 10€ less than at home, so I couldn't resist this beauty any longer.

I hope you enjoyed this lengthy, not overly nail polish-y holiday haul post and the first impressions I gave you! Do you usually go shopping when you are on holiday? Or am I the only one raiding the drugstores while everyone else is spending time at the beach?! ;)

Have a great Sunday, thanks for looking!
