Where did July go? Time just rushes by for me, I have a hard time keeping up with all the things I have to/want to get done this Summer. But I just have to take the time to show you my purchases of the past month, as most of you seem to enjoy this kind of posts. I really tried to be a good girl this month and not go overboard with my nail polish and beauty purchases and I think it worked out pretty well ;)

I hope everyone is doing well in this heat. I am really no fan of temperatures beyond 30°C, but still I am glad Summer is here, so I don't want to complain. Good thing is, you have a good excuse for being lazy and not overly productive ;)
Today I have for you Are You Jelly? from China Glaze's Sunsational Neon collection for Summer 2013. When these became available online in a Dutch shop, I ordered five of the jellies. I wish I had waited until the first swatches popped up, because then I would have known that most of the jellies weren't as great as I thought they would be. Anyways, I am still glad I got these colors and except for the two extremely sheer colors Isle See You Later and Keepin' It Teal I am happy with my purchase.

I really like the look of a neat classic French manicure from time to time, but I don't dare to wear them that often, because my nails are stained a bit from wearing polish all the time (and because I suck at free-handing the tips and with tape I can never get crisp lines). I tried removing the stains with whitening tooth paste, lemon juice and even these "destainers" you can buy at the drugstore - none of these methods really worked for me, so I just gave up on it. Still I recently felt like wearing French nails, so I picked a slightly more opaque shimmery base color to hide the yucky yellowness. To spice things up a bit I chose an emerald green shimmery polish and created some zig zag French tips for a change.

Happy Monday lovelies!
The heatwave has arrived in Germany! It is 34°C/93°F here and I am melting in front of my computer. Hence only a short post for today. I wanted to share with you Sunday Funday from Essie's Naughty Nautical collection. I've been stalking my local drugstore for the collection and I planned on getting Sunday Funday, Naughty Nautical and The More The Merrier - sadly I could only find two of them. The acid green was sold out everywhere I went. I am planning to show you Naughty Nautical on this blog, too, but for now let us have a look at Sunday Funday.

Good evening my fellow reader!
Today's manicure is inspired by a very sad story. You might have heard about the YouTube beauty guru Talia Joy Castellano passing away last Tuesday morning. In case you haven't, she was a 13-year old girl battling two types of aggressive cancer for half her life. However, when I watched her videos, it didn't feel like a young girl was talking to me. The way she saw things and talked about them appeared so grown up and the way she accepted her disease and even smiled through everything made me want to cry. If you want to know what I am talking about, just watch her cancer vlogs. It's heartbreaking. A young person shouldn't have to endure such horrible things. Honestly, I am not a religious person, but I do hope she is in a better place now without all the pain. You will be missed little lady!
Besides doing make up, Talia was also incredibly skilled at nail art. The last Instagram photo she posted was a minty green manicure. Inspired by that pic, Nicole from Nail Polish Wars came up with the idea to post mint green nails this Friday. Of course I had to join her, so here is my mint green manicure in honor of the lovely Talia.

It seems that high shine finish nail polishes are all the rage at the moment. There is P2's Volume Shine range here in German drugstores, Sinful Colors Gel Shine in the US and the UK has Barry M Gelly polishes. Maybe there are more out there that I haven't even heard about, yet. I never really cared for these high shine gel-like finishes, as I put a shiny top coat over every manicure anyway. But then, the lovely Hanny from Polly Polish came to thwart my plans of not getting any of these polishes. A few weeks back she posted swatches of the new Gelly hi-shine polishes for Summer 2013 and I was hooked! These colors were so bright and fun, perfect shades for the sunny season. When I first saw her photos, the nail polish hoarder in me screamed "Buy all of them, they look so pretty!", but that little bit of self control somewhere in the back of my head whispered "Maybe it's safer to try just one or two, you can still go back and get more!" So when I ordered Essie In The Cabana from Cambree.de, I also threw two Barry M nail paints into my cart - Key Lime and Passion Fruit, of which I'll show you the latter today.

Today I want to share with you In The Cabana from Essie's Resort collection 2013. When I first saw swatches of it over at The PolishAholic, I fell in love with the color and needed this in my life. So I patiently waited for it to show up in German drugstores.... and I waited... and waited... At the beginning of this month there still was no sign of the Resort collection so I began searching the internet for when it will be released. To my horror I found out that Essie will not release their Resort collection in DM drugstores. So what then?? While browsing some German beauty blogs I came across a post that said Essie's Resort collection will be available at some online shops only. I could have ordered it online from a US etailer, but I simply couldn't justify the shipping costs for one bottle of polish. So gladly I found the collection at Cambree.de, which is one of my favorite online shops when in comes to nail polish and make up brushes. Prices are reasonable and shipping is super duper fast (and no, I have not been paid for writing this ;) ). But now, let's finally have a look at the beauty that caused me so much distress, shall we!?

I cannot believe how quickly this week went by. I am glad it finally is Friday evening and I have a free weekend ahead of me. I might head to Ikea to look for a new coffee table (and a few candles, I can never leave that store without buying at least a few tea lights).
Do you remember how I told you about my never ending search for the perfect pastel nail polishes? I have tried a few by now and sadly most of the time the formula left much to be desired. When I heard about the Models Own Fruity Pastel collection, I knew I had to give these a try. I mean hello, they're pastel creme polishes and they're scented AND they have food names! Needless to say I bought all five of them and I thought they would make a cute skittle manicure.

Happy belated 4th of July!
I hope everyone in the US had a great time celebrating Independence Day! Even though I am living on the other side of the pond, I wanted to sympathize with my American friends and thought I'd do a 4th of July manicure. I love the combination of white, blue and red, so what better occasion is there to wear a polish like KB Shimmer's Pimp My Pride?! ;)

nope, I am still not done with textured polishes ;) Solitaire from OPI's Bond Girl collection immediately spoke to me when I saw swatches of it. Solitaire is a white base with small silver glitter particles.
