Formula X for Sephora ~ Brainchild

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a great weekend! For me, the weekend mainly consisted of house cleaning and running errands, but I am ok with that. I enjoy a slightly lazy weekend from time to time.
Today I want to share with you my review of Brainchild from Sephora's new nail polish range called Formula X for Sephora. These replaced the Sephora by OPI polishes earlier in 2013. On my last trip to the US I picked up two of these polishes and after trying the first one, I regretted not getting more. When I went to Sephora I was overwhelmed by the size of the Formula X nail polish rack and I had a hard time picking my favorites.
This range is divided into different "collections": there are neutrals and classics, which all have either a creme or shimmer finish. Then there are the Effects that include glitter topcoats, duo- and multichromes, chromes, neons, holographics... basically the Formula X range covers every finish you can think of. Anyways, before I start drooling over the memory of that nail polish rack, let's move on to swatches of Brainchild!

Brainchild belongs to the Formula X for Sephora New Classics collection and is described as a deep violet. This has a creme finish. I loved the formula of this! It is on the thicker side, but still easy to work with. At the same time, it is very pigmented and you can get away with one thicker coat. Yet, I prefer to paint two thin coats, as that helps with chipping. The polish dried to a slightly darker color compared to the color in the bottle, but I am ok with that. The brush is also nice and I like that you can take off the white cap, which makes holding the brush much easier. As a top coat I used my beloved INM Out The Door. The whole manicure lasted me four days without any chips or cracks and only some tip wear. I could have left this on longer, but after four days I usually get tired of the same color on my nails ;)
The New Classics polishes retail for $10.50 for a 12ml bottle, so they're slightly more expensive compared to the Sephora by OPI nail polishes. In my opinion they're worth the price tag and I am already excited to try the second polish I picked up, which is from the Effects range.

Have you tried anything from this new nail polish range? Let me know what you think!

Thank you for reading, enjoy your Sunday!
