Formula X for Sephora - Galaxy

Hello there,

I hope everyone is having a great week so far!
Yesterday I finally reached for the second Formula X for Sephora nail polish I got during my last trip to NYC. This is Galaxy from their Celestials range. It is described as a navy blue and silver glitter shift. I don't know what they mean by "glitter shift". This is a matte deep navy blue base with lots of silver and green-ish golden microglitter. When I bought this I didn't realize that this was meant to be a textured polish - or maybe I just missed the description on the display. Either way, I am really happy with my purchase :)

The navy blue base color in Galaxy is very deep, it almost looks black on the nails. While it looks like there is a lot of shimmer/microglitter in the bottle, the color falls a bit flat on the nails. You can definitely see the silver glitter, but it is not as sparkly as I would have liked it to be. The good thing is, this baby is crazily pigmented. You can get away with just one coat and it dries at lightning speed! While I am pretty impressed with application, wear of this Formula X polish leaves something to be desired. It came chipping off in large chunks on day 1. I should mention that I wore rubber gloves most of the time because I was working that day, but still I have tried textured polishes that performed much better under these conditions (like the P2 Sand Style polishes or the Zoya Pixie Dusts).
Also compared to textured polishes from other brands, the Celestials are more expensive. For $12.50 you get 12ml of nail polish. Still I am in love with the Formula X polishes and I regret not getting more when I had the chance. Formula X is available exclusively at Sephora in the US.

Have you tried anything from the Formula X range? Let me know which is your must have color!

  1. Right now, on their website (http://www.sephora.com/the-celestials-P388002?skuId=1546209), Galaxy costs $4.00. I wasn't too sure about getting this one at first, but after reading your review and seeing that gorgeous polish in the photos, I'm pretty positive this is going to be my next favorite nail polish!

  2. Sorry, the other link didn't work for some reason: http://www.sephora.com/the-celestials-P388002?skuId=1546209

  3. Thanks for telling me about the sale! Since all colors from the Celestials range cost $4 I assume they will be discontinued. For this price tag I'd say don't think twice and get it. If you like textured polishes you will love this one. Let me know what you think if you try it ;) Unfortunately I cannot buy polish from Sephora US, because they do not ship it to Germany :(
