Today is a perfect Spring day over here with loads of sunshine and almost 20°C. Before I head outside to catch a few rays of sunlight I want to share with you my picks from the new P2 standard nail polish range. Just like Catrice and Essence, the German drugstore brand P2 cleans out their range twice a year. I never paid much attention to their products in the past, because they were rather cheap looking and didn't offer anything special in my eyes. During the last year P2 has really stepped up their game though, both in make up and nail polish products. So I had to go and check out what is new and I took six polishes home with me. All swatches are taken under my daylight lamp and without top coat to show you the true finish of the polishes. Enjoy!
P2 added a few new colors to their existing Volume Gloss gel look polish range. The name says it all, these polishes are supposed to dry to a very shiny finish, reminiscent of the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine polishes or the Sinful Colors Shine range. Last summer I already got two of these and love them! When I saw the bright teal 009 California Girl I knew I needed this in my stash! And I am so glad I picked this up, because it turned out to be my favorite of the six polishes I got that day. It is a crelly formula and for the swatch I did two coats. It is super easy to apply and does dry fast and glossy. Love it!
The second shade I got is 008 Beach Babe, a super bright orange creme. This is a very saturated orange color but not neon. The formula was a bliss to work with and it is opaque with two coats. Please irgnore by horrible skin tone. My camera did not pick up the color right, so I adjusted it on my computer. Now the polish color looks true to life, but my skin does not #yesisuckatcolorcorrection
P2 also added a new range of polishes called Satin Supreme consisting of eight pastel shades. These have a suede finish and remind me of the Barry M Silk Nail Effects. The first color I got of these is 080 Lofty Style, a pretty pastel sky blue. What you see here is two coats.
The second Satin Supreme polish I got is a soft lavender color called 070 Kingly Gift. Like Lofty Style, this covered nicely in two coats. It is a shame that pastel colors clash with my skintone, but still I love this polish.
To their existing Lost In Glitter range P2 added three new colors, of which I bought 100 Think Big!. This is a clear base with larger purple hexagonal glitter and small blue and a few green hexes. Glitter payoff is good and the polish is not thick or goopey. Here I am wearing one coat over Kingly Gift.
Last but not least, I had to get 130 Joyful, a new addition to P2's Sand Style polishes. Joyful is a bright corally orange color with small silver glitter. The formula of the P2 Sand Style polishes is really good and this shade is no exception. It is densely pigmented, dries fast and wears well, so nothing to complain here.
Overall, I am really impressed with the new P2 polishes! The shade range is nice and they're great value for money. With their current update P2 changed the design of their bottles (except for the Volume Gloss and the Color Victim range). They're more square now and the handle is wider and shorter. The brush still seems to be the same. At the same time, they reduced the amount of polish you get! While the old bottles held 11ml of polish, you only get 10ml in the new bottles, so there's a slight increase in the price. Still I'd recommend their polishes if you're on a budget or always on the hunt for a good deal ;) P2 cosmetics is exclusively available at DM drugstores across Germany - sorry international ladies.
And now I am going out for a walk and I might be getting my first ice cream cone of the year :)
Thanks for reading, see you soon!
