The prompt for today is Peeps. When I first read "Peeps" I had no idea what that was supposed to be. So I googled a bit and it turned out Peeps are marshmallow chicks (or bunnies, pumpkins, hearts...) that come in a variety of colors and flavors. They seem to be sold only in the US and Canada, hence I have never heard of them before (they look delicious though, especially these chocolate mousse ones ;D).
I have been wanting to use my OPI Sheer Tints ever since I got them a couple of weeks ago and this theme was the perfect opportunity! I think these four polishes represent the colors of the marshmallow peeps perfectly!
I started out with a white base, in this case OPI Alpine Snow. I then brushed on Be Magentale With Me, Don't Violet Me Down, I Can Teal You Like Me and I'm Never Amberrassed following this tutorial by Liliana. Somehow my result looks very different from hers, but I quite like it. For the yellow marshmallow Peep chick on my middle finger I used the ziplock bag method and Models Own Banana Split topped with I'm Never Amberrassed. I finished everything off with a coat of Sally Hansen No Chip topcoat et voilá!
I was so excited to try the Sheer Tints, but I have to say they are damn hard to work with! OPI did not lie when they said they're supposed to be topcoats. All four of them were thick and stringy, with I'm Never Amberrassed being slightly better to work with compared to the other three. I will definitely add some thinner before using them again. The good thing is that they dry relatively fast to a shiny finish.
Despite the goopyness (is that even a word?) the OPI Sheer Tints are worth getting for the cool watercolor effect alone I think. I cannot wait to play with them again!
And now I am craving those cute marshmallow chicks... Anybody interested in sending me a bag?! :D Just kidding.
Thanks for stopping by, until next time!
