Favorite Lipsticks for Spring/Summer

Hello ladies,

just a little warning at the very beginning, because today I have another make up post for you! So if you are here for nails only, feel free to click that little "x" in the top right corner now. For those of you who stay, I will be showing you my favorite lipsticks for Spring and Summer this year. Not only do I love to wear bold nails during the sunny season, but I also love me some color on my lips as well. For more pictures and swatches, read on after the jump!

summer lipsticks bright

top lipsticks for spring_P2 Secret Gloss-Secret Lover First up is P2 - Sweet Lover from their new Secret Gloss range. The formula of these is reminiscent of the Revlon Lip Butters - very creamy and moisturizing. At the same time you get a good amount of color. I would describe Sweet Lover as a raspberry pink color that is bright, but not too bold. So if you are just starting out wearing brighter colors, I recommend this one to you.

top lipsticks for spring_L'oreal 401 Fuchsia Drama

A lippie a bit brighter is Fuchsia Drama 401 from the new L'Oreal Color Riche L'Extraordinaire line. This is one of those liquid lipsticks that are all the rage this summer. This is a cool-toned magenta pink with blue shimmer in it. To me, this is more a lipgloss type of product. It is translucent, so the color might vary depending on the pigmentation of your lips. I find this to be moisturizing, but it does not last long and will get all over your glass or mug when you're drinking. Still I love it because of the gorgeous color!

top lipsticks for spring_Clarins Natural Lip Perfector 05

Obviously, I do not wear bright lipsticks to the office. One of my favorite safe for work lip products that still adds a touch of color is the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in Candy Shimmer. Again, this is more a gloss type of product, so it doesn't last very long, but it is easy to reapply on the go.

top lipsticks for spring_Kiko 401

This summer I am totally hooked on the orange trend. Orange is hard to pull off and you definitely need to find the right shade to compliment your skintone. For everyday, I like the Kiko Crystal Sheer lipstick in Tropical Orange. This comes across very yellow-y orange in the swatch on my skin below, but as it is so sheer, it'll mix with the natural color of your lips and result in a - at least for me - wearable color.

top lipsticks for spring_Revlon lipbutter wild watermelon

Another great color for summer that came out last year (or was it the year before already?) is the Revlon Colorburst Lipbutter in Wild Watermelon. I guess I don't have to say much about it, do I?! One just has to love this juicy medium coral color.

top lipsticks for spring_Maybelline Vivics Fuchsi Shock

Now for those of you who like to go really bold I have Fuchsia Flash from the Maybelline ColorSensational Vivids line. This bright blue-toned, almost neon magenta will definitely grab people's attention! Sadly, this is not available in Germany. I bought this while I was on vacation in Spain last year. In general, I can only recommend the Vivids line. I have 4 of those and they all are creamy, very pigmented and last a long time, even with dringing and eating.

top lipsticks for spring_MAC Party Parrot

Last but defnitely not least I have to mention MAC Party Parrot! I know this was limited edition, but I adore this bright reddish pink color so much, it will make it into my top 10 favorite lipsticks every time! This one is matte, so you get vibrant, opaque color with just one swipe. Fingers crossed MAC will repromote this color some time, because I am already afraid of running out :D

And here are some swatches on my underarm of all lipsticks mentioned. Yes, I know, I am very pale and no, I am not going to do something about that (I just have to wear SPF 30 AT LEAST or I'll burn and self-tanner always comes out orange and blotchy, so we just have to roll with my pasty skin). The good thing about painting on a white canvas is that you get the true color of the product, ha!

Before you leave I would like to hear what is your favorite lip product for Spring and Summer! Also, I happily take recommendations for pretty nude lipsticks, as I am still on the hunt for a nice wearable, "does not make me look dead" nude. Thank you :D
