I recently showed you Carnivale and Batbano Blue, the bright colors from the new Sally Hansen Designer Collection 2014 created in collaboration with Tracey Reese and Prabal Gurung. This collection is currently available in select German drugstores. Seems like these polishes are available in the US now, too, where they are featured in a collection called Runway Trends.
The three more pastel shades A Wink Of Pink, Lady Lavender and Mojito looked perfect together, so I decided to create a color block manicure with them. As you will see in a minute, I obviously suck at color blocking, but still I liked the result.
See what I mean? I should have colored the blocks differently, d'oh.
I used the very pale pink A Wink Of Pink as a base. This needed three thin coats to be even and opaque. I added a layer of quick dry top coat before placing the striping tape. Then I simply filled in the blocks with Lady Lavender and Mojito and topped everything off with another layer of top coat. For the rest of my hand I simply went with two coats of Lady Lavender. I did not apply top coat to these nails to show you the finish of this polish. Lady Lavender is a nice almost pastel lavender base with silver shimmer. It does not dry shiny, but not quite matte, either. It is more of a satin or suede finish.
My favorite of those three, however, is Mojito, a mix between grass and mint green. This one has a true creme finish, is opaque with just two coats and dries shiny.
Sadly, pastel shades don't really compliment my pasty skin tone, but I can see myself wearing these more often this Summer, because I like the colors and the formula a lot.
How do you like these colors?
Thanks so much for reading, see you next time!
