[TAG] Youtube Made Me Buy It

Hello there!

Today I have something a little different for you.
A few months ago I saw the "Youtube Made Me Buy It" tag floating around Youtube. In those videos, the "beauty gurus" talked about products they bought because of other Youtubers. I wasn't exactly tagged by anyone, but still I thought it would be fun to share with you items I got after seeing a video/reading a blog post. I admit I can be easily enthused when it comes to nail polish or make up, but especially with more pricey products I think twice and try to get as many opinions on an item as I can. Still there were quite a few things I couldn't get out of my head after seeing them for the first time. So here are some of the products I had to get thanks to some of you! Wherever I remember, I will link to the enabler responsible ;)

So first up are two polishes I had to get when I saw them but soon regretted spending money on. Chanel Peridot and Graphite were all the rage about two years ago. I can't deny that Chanel comes up with nice and quite unique colors, but for me their polishes are not worth the money. They chip within a day and just won't last. Secondly, if you're patient enough, other brands usually come up with dupes soon after the release of the original (think Catrice Genius In A Bottle or Revlon Carbonite).

Youtube made me buy it tag_indies

It is no secret I like neon nail polish. And matte neon glitter polish? SOLD! I first saw the Lush Lacquer (now Polish Me Silly) New Neons on Crystal's Crazy Combos. These all have different neon colored hexes in a clear base. They are very versatile and look good over a variety of base colors (see here and here).
My first ever indie polish I got was Floam by Amy from I'm Feeling Nailventurous. I assume I don't have to tell you anything about this matte blue and green polish, do I?! Back then everyone was talking about Floam. It was almost impossible to get and when I was finally able to grab it, I immediately purchased a back up bottle - just in case! I don't think I will ever get tired of this indie polish :)

Youtube made me buy it tag_OPI Sheer Tints

A more recent purchase Marta from Chit Chat Nails convinced me to make are the OPI Sheer Tints. I have used them only once (see here), but I love the effect they give. Still I wish I had gotten the mini set, because I am not sure I will use these for anything but watercolor nails.

Youtube made me buy it tag_base and top coats

On to some nail care items. When I started blogging (wait, was that already three years ago?! Man, time really flies) everyone and their mother recommended Orly Bonder as a base and Seche Vite as a top coat. I still love my Bonder and its rubberized finish really helps my nail polish to stay on longer. Seche Vite however... well, we will never ever become best (or even good) friends. It stinks, it shrinks... The only good this is the drying time and the super glossy finish, but that doesn't weigh out the cons for me.
Sadly it seems that many products that are well loved across the nail polish community just do not work for me. OPI Nail Envy didn't do anything for my nails and I don't like the fact that it contains formaldehyde. Guess I will be giving this away soon.
Then Sammy from The Nailasaurus told us about her experiences with the Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat. It seemed to have all the good qualities of Seche Vite minus the shrinkage. That sounded too good to be true. It really does dry fast and glossy, does not shrink *yaaay* and lasts a long time. The only downside is that it is not 3-free.

I guess Lush's Lemony Flutter and/or the Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream are staples in everyone's hand care arsenale. Lemony Flutter I only use at night and when I am at home, because it is very greasy. The Burt's Bees Butter I always carry with me in my purse to pamper my cuticles on the go. I love the smell of it and the tin seems to last me forever.
A new addition to my nail care product drawer is the Bliss Kiss Nail Oil. I first heard of it from Lucy's Stash and the whole story sounded too good to be true. Then Kelly Gonzo published her review about this nail oil and I decided to give it a try. What can I say, so far I really like it. Let me know if you are interested in an in depth review about the oil!

Youtube made me buy it tag_Lorac Pro Palette

Now on to the non-nail polish items I was intrigued to buy after hearing raving reviews about them. First up is the LORAC Pro Palette. There has been a lot of buzz about this eye shadow palette and I can't even tell where I saw it first. I am so glad I finally got my hands on it, because it really is that great!

Youtube made me buy it tag_it cosmetics naturally pretty palette

Same applies to the IT cosmetics Naturally Pretty palette. It is ah-mah-zing! The colors are so pretty, the shadows feel silky and blend easily... you just have to try it yourself!

Youtube made me buy it tag_candles

Last but not least (and to serve up the clichée of a beauty blogger - wait, I am lacking the cat ;) ) - candles! What is a rainy gloomy Sunday afternoon without a book and a scented candle? My favorite brand is Yankee Candle, because they have the most variety and least artificial scents (compared to many of those super cheap candles that smell like urinal cakes to me). In the US the candles from Bath & Body Works are extremely popular and I am so glad I made it to their store in NYC. I still haven't burned the three candles I got back in December because I am afraid of running out :D

Phew, that was a lengthy post, but I hope you had just as much fun reading it as I had putting it together! As usual, let me know if you would like to see any of the mentioned items in action and read a thorough review on. And please tell me I am not the only one who can easily be talked into buying certain things ;)
