London haul!

Hi there,

as promised, here is an overview of all the things I got while I was in London in the beginning of the month. This is a quite picture heavy post, so let's jump right in!

One of the things I wanted to check out were the Models Own bottle shops. I was told they were dotted all over London, but somehow I couldn't find one on our walks through the city. Some Boots and Superdrug stores stock Models Own, but they only have a limited range and the displays I found where empty and messy. Gladly I went to meet some nail polish friends at Westfield shoping mall, where they have their flagship bottle shop. I was especially interested in their new Polish For Tans neon collection, but ended up buying only Peach Bag. From the HyperGel range I got Coral Glaze and I need to try this one ASAP, as I am very interested in the formula. From the Speckled Eggs collection I bought Magpie. I was in need of a new buffer, so I got the Models Own 4-way one and for £3 I hope it'll be good and last me a while.

Of course as a nail polish enthusiast I had to buy some of the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine polishes. I already own a few of these and am very pleased with the formuly. Luckily, Boots had a 2 for £7 offer at the time :) The shades I got were Green Berry, Sugar Apple, Olive and Elderberry.

While shopping at Westfield mall I went to another, even bigger Boots and got two more Barry M polishes. Carousel is an orange coral color with strong gold shimmer. This one is limited edition and exclusively available at Boots. From their new Matte Nail Paints I picked up the bright blue Malibu. Seventeen seems to be a Boots brand and while I have heard about their make up line before, I don't think I have ever seen any of their polish swatched on blogs. Demolition by Formula X has been on my wishlist for quite a while now and when I saw Seventeen Nail Effects in the color Tropical Punch, I thought this was a good and much cheaper substitute. Just like Demolition, this one also has white, blue, lime green and orange hexes of various sizes in a clear base.

At said nail polish blogger meetup at Westfield I met Saira aka GirlWithTheGreenNails, Esther aka Fab Fingertips, Sarah aka Swishie Nails, Hannah from PollyPolish, Susan from Dreamwanders as well as nail-loopy and Annette, the lady behind Rainbow Connection UK. From Saira, Sarah and Susan I received those amazing gifts above. So cute and thoughtful, especially since they knew I wanted Microdots, so they tried to keep me away from the Models Own shop until after handing over their present. What a surprise that was! The Nails Inc. polish is Panton Street. The nail vinyls are chevrons, lines, lightning bolts and unicorns! And how cute is that pot of hand cream?! Thanks again girls, I had an amazing day with you all and I hope to see you again in the near future!

Also from Boots I got L'Oreal True Match foundation in the shade N1, which is not available over here. From Bourjois I got the Happy Light Matte Primer. This is not one of those silicone bombs (think Benefit Porefessional), which usually break me out, so I have high hopes for this. From mentioned Seventeen range I bought their Stay Time concealer. I first heard about it from KalterKaffee.at and got this as an alternative to the praised Collection concealer (which was sold out in every freakin' drugstore I went to).

Ever since Allison from Amarixe talked about Coconut Grove eyeshadow by NARS being perfect as an eyeliner, I wanted to check it out. I finally got my hands on it at Selfridges. From Inglot I picked up one of their new HD Sculpting powders in the shade 505. This served as a substitute for Illamasqua Hollow, which was also sold out :( Now I am glad I got the Inglot product, because I prefer the powder formula over a cream. I hope the Ecotools Airbrush Concealer brush will be good to blend out concealer under the eyes. I forgot to photograph the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal Light, which I got from SpaceNK. I love this to set my under-eye area!

At Heathrow airport I purchased one of the new Dior liquid lipsticks in the shade Pandore, which I adore, haha. Ok, bad wordplay. The Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm is in the shade Elusive and is perfect for everyday.

At the Pixi store in Carnaby I got their Glow Tonic toner, which I have heard nothing but good things about. At a £16 price tag this is expensive, so I guess it is good that I cannot easily get my hands on it here in Germany ;) From the Boots Botanics range I got a scrub, which is too harsh for my face, so I will use it only on my body. The Moisture Mist was a mispurchase. I thought this was a facial mist, but back in the hotel I realized this is one of those canned body lotions. Should have read the label more carefully! I love it though, as it absorbs fast and smells good.

Last but not least I treated myself to the Nutmeg & Ginger fragrance from Jo Malone. I have been wanting a Jo Malone cologne in like forever. Over here, I can only get it online, but I didn't want to order blindly, since this stuff is damn expensive! So in their store on Sloane Street I tried several of their scents and was torn between Nutmeg & Ginger and English Pear & Freesia. In the end I walked out with the more spicy scent, which will be good to wear all year round. It lingers on my skin for quite a while and I love how it changes its scent during the day.

At the Twinings store I bought a truckload of various teas. I am not a big coffee person, but I do enjoy a steaming mug of herbal tea any time of the day. And that company offers so many tasty herbal, black and fruit teas! It's a shame we cannot get it here, so I had to stock up while I had the chance ;) Of course I also bought the mandatory Starbucks City mug with Big Ben on it.

So that was all I got during my trip to London. More than enough money spent in a week! Hence I will be putting myself on a no buy for quite a while now. At least until I have tried all of the new nail polishes, make up and skin care items I got recently!

I hope you enjoyed this post! What would you get if you were in London? Let me know!
