Every Spring I anticipate the release of the neon collections. I still swoon over the China Glaze Summer Neons from last year, the Poolside collection that was released way back in 2010 or Orly's Feel The Vibe from 2012. That last collection contained some serious hightlighter neon shades! But this year, after seeing lots of swatches and reading reviews, it seems that something is off. The neon collections from OPI, Essie and China Glaze are not neon - bummer! They still are pretty colors, so some of them ended up on my wishlist anyway. One of them was Life Gave Me Lemons from OPI's Neon collection, so I was uber happy to find this in the mail the other day.
Life Gave Me Lemons is a mix between yellow and green. I would consider it a bright chartreuse. The formula wasn't the best. It was patchy and uneven after two coats, so I had to apply a third coat to even everything out. The polish dries to a semi-matte finish, but a layer of top coat will fix this if you prefer a shiny finish. Usually yellow does not look flattering on me, but the touch of green in it makes it more wearable.
Life Gave Me Lemons and the rest of the OPI Neons collection is available at German retailers now. You can buy OPI from Karstadt, Douglas or Breuninger for example. A 15ml bottle retails for 16€.
How do you feel about this year's "neon" collections?
