[Review] Underground Nails ~ Quickie Topcoat

Hello everyone,

A few months ago I was sent a few items from the lovely Minnie from Underground Cosmetics (formerly called Funky Nails). One of the products was her fast drying topcoat called Quickie. I wanted to test it thoroughly and after months of using it I feel ready to share my thoughts on it with you now.

Underground nails quickie topcoat review

First, the hard facts. The round bottle contains 15ml that retail for $10. You can order Underground Nails products directly from her online store and they do ship internationally.
The brush is long and skinny, similar to China Glaze's brush. The bristles are very flexible, which makes the brush slightly harder to control. The consistency of Quickie is somewhere between Seche Vite and INM Out The Door. The former is thick and the latter top coat is really thin. Unlike Seche Vite, which tends to get goopey and thick halfway through the bottle, I did not observe such weird things with Quickie topcoat. It does however smell a bit like Seche Vite. The ingredients are not listed anywhere, but based on the scent I suppose this topcoat is not 3-free (please correct me if I am wrong Minnie!).
Speed-wise, this topcoat does not dry as fast as SV, but definitely much faster than my beloved Out The Door. Quickie does dry to a glossy finish and you can see it in action here over my Models Own - Peach Bag manicure. As far as shrinkage is concerned, which is a major issue for me with most fast-drying topcoats like Seche Vite, Poshé, Good To Go...., I am afraid I do not have a definite answer for you. On some manicures I did observe shrinkage at tips and cuticles, while again on others there was zero shrinkage. I have a feeling that it depends on either thickness/layers of polish or how wet/dry your manicure is when you apply the topcoat.
Underground Nails Quickie does wear really nicely. I wore my Summerlime manicure for four days straight without any cracks or chips and it stayed glossy all the way until I took it off.

Overall, I am really happy with this topcoat. It has all the advantages of a fast-drying topcoat like Seche Vite, minus the goopey-ness. I'd love it even more if it didn't have that chemical scent, but again I have not found a good fast-drying topcoat without that odd smell (KB Shimmer Clearly On Top and Glisten & Glow HK Girl have a similar scent, are not 3-free but work perfectly for me). I just make sure to use them in a well ventilated area. My other favorite INM Out The Door is 3-free, but does not nearly dry as fast as Quickie and does not give that shiny finish.
So finding the perfect topcoat is a matter of trial and error until you find the product that fits your needs. This topcoat is defnitely worth checking out in my opinion!
