Happy Sunday everyone!
I hope you're all having a great weekend so far! You may have realized that I have been posting a bit less this month. Work just keeps me super busy, plus I am preparing for a scientific meeting in Washington DC and a job interview in Cincinnati next week. I am excited and scared at the same time. As a reward, I am going to NYC afterwards to do some damage to my wallet and do some early Christmas shopping.
Yesterday I received three of six polishes from the new Sally Hansen Guilty Pleasures Limited Edition for winter 2014. They looked so pretty in their bottles, I had to swatch them immediately. For my thoughts on Rule Of Plum, Glitter Bomb and Diamond Jubilee, read on after the jump!
Rule Of Plum is a reddish purple color with an intense red and blue shimmer. In the bottle it reminds me of Chanel Taboo. Sadly I do not own said nail polish, but it seems that Rule Of Plum is more red than Taboo.
The formula is easy to work with, but Rule Of Plum is a bit sheer. I needed three coats to obtain full coverage. The extra coat is totally worth the efford in my opinion, I love the result!
Glitter Bomb is a clear base loaded with gold shimmer and lilac hex glitter. The concept of this polish is comparable to Essie On A Silver Platter or a-England She Walks In Beauty, just with different glitter colors.
I applied one coat of Glitter Bomb over Rule Of Plum. The base is slightly thick, but still easy to work with. The glitter is densely packed, so I tried to build it up to full coverage on its own.
For the swatch I applied three coats of both Glitter Bomb and Diamond Jubilee. While both glitter polishes are densly packed, there still is a lot of nail line peeking through. On the positive side, both glitters are not chunky and easy to smooth out with one layer of top coat.
Diamond Jubilee is a clear base filled with silver glitter in various sizes. Like Glitter Bomb, the base is on the thick side, but manageable. While I like both glitter polishes, I prefer them as a topper over a base color instead of worn alone.
The Sally Hansen Guilty Pleasures collection is available in selected German drugstores throughout November. A bottle retails for 8,99€. Will you be getting one of these?
