My Birthday Nails

Hello everyone!

I am back from the dead! This weekend was exhausting! This past Saturday I turned 30 *yikes* and we had a big party. That meant a lot of shopping and preparation, but it was worth it! The weather was beyond perfect and I had a fun day with family and friends and got the best birthday cake ever :) That night I only had 3 hours of sleep, so I felt a bit like a zombie the next day. I am so glad I have today off from work, so I can relax a bit more and clean up the aftermath of 30 people having a BBQ party.
For my birthday I wanted something fun on my nails, so colorful glitter was a must! Since I love cupcakes (especially Red Velvet), I dedicated an accent nail to this sweet treat.

The Lacquer Legion ~ Lucky #LLlucky

TGIF!

I hope you all had a not too stressful week and have a nice weekend ahead of you. Today is my first time taking part in The Lacquer Legion. The concept is similar to the former Polish Days, where nail polish lovers once a month post manicures according to a certain theme. The theme for March is "Lucky". Honestly, whenever I hear the word lucky these days the song "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk pops up in my head. Next I'd think of Lucky Charms - yummy. Still for my lucky manicure I went with a very obvious design - a four-leave clover and a classical gold and green color combination.

Essie ~ Lots Of Lux

Happy hump day everyone!

My love for textured polishes continues. When I came across a display of Essie's Encrusted Treasures collection I had only planned to pick up Belugaria. Then the blue of the bunch caught my eye. Since it was the last bottle, I had to throw it into the basket - and I am so glad I bought it! The color is just amazing, but see for yourself.

Weekly Roundup #1

Happy Sunday everyone!

It's been very quiet this past week on my blog. My boss spontaneously decided to send me to a scientific meeting, so this past Monday I headed to Regensburg to meet some fellow scientists. It was fun and very informative, but also exhausting. I was listening to talks, chatting about work stuff and trying to solve scientific problems 24/7. I didn't have the time to pre-schedule posts before I left nor did I have the time to post while I was away. In fact, I didn't even paint my nails this entire week, because I didn't want to bring all my nail care stuff with me. So basically I do not have any manicure to show you today. Still I wanted to post, so I figured why not do something different this time and make it a weekly series on my blog. The idea of making a Weekly Roundup certainly is not new and I have seen it on many blogs before, but I think it is fun to share some personal life stuff with my readers. Additionally, I will link posts from other blogs that I found worth reading this week. Let me know if you like this little peek into my life! By the way, for more recent hauls, travel photos etc. you can always follow me on Instagram or Facebook!

[Review] Underground Cosmetics ~ Locked & Loaded

Hello,

today I have something a little different for you and I hope you enjoy this kind of post.
My friend Minnie from Underground Cosmetics recently sent me a few of her products to try. She initially started out as a nail polish enthusiast and blogger. Inspired by the nail polish community, she began to create her own nail polishes and from that Minnie ventured out to produce her own line of body care products. When Minnie asked me to review some of her items, I jumped at the opportunity. I've been following her for a while now and we share the love of researching beauty products ingredients. So I know she put lots of research, thoughts and care into her products.
The first item I want to share with you today is the Locked & Loaded Lip Balm and Lip Scrub Duo in Dulche de Leche. This product is described as follows: "Keep your lips Locked & Loaded with a mix of exotic oils and essentials oils. Tastes like sweet white rice with cinnamon and cream."

Zoya Pixie Dust ~ Chita

Hello gals,

it is no secret that I am totally hooked on the textured nail polish trend that has been going on for months now (and it does not seem to stop anytime soon). My favorite textured polishes by far are the Pixie Dusts from Zoya. They're so finely textured, shimmery and long wearing <3 In one of my last hauls I got Chita and it was about time to finally wear this beauty.

Lush Lacquer New Neons ~ Blurple & Splish Splash

Good evening!

Since Spring arrived early this year, I felt like wearing some bright colors on my nails this past weekend. Last summer matte neon glitters were all the rage and I was so glad when I finally managed to get some of Lush Lacquer's New Neons. But then I ended up wearing only Freckles and the other shades got lost in my drawers. Shame on me! So it was about time to pull out Blurple and Splish Splash. I recently got Essie Marshmallow in a swap and thought that was a nice combo. Initially I had planned to do a glitter sandwich, but I was afraid Marshmallow might obscure the matte glitter too much, so I simply wore two coats of the neon glitter over Essie Marshmallow.

My picks from the new P2 standard range

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today is a perfect Spring day over here with loads of sunshine and almost 20°C. Before I head outside to catch a few rays of sunlight I want to share with you my picks from the new P2 standard nail polish range. Just like Catrice and Essence, the German drugstore brand P2 cleans out their range twice a year. I never paid much attention to their products in the past, because they were rather cheap looking and didn't offer anything special in my eyes. During the last year P2 has really stepped up their game though, both in make up and nail polish products. So I had to go and check out what is new and I took six polishes home with me. All swatches are taken under my daylight lamp and without top coat to show you the true finish of the polishes. Enjoy!

My Nail Care Essentials

Happy Monday and welcome to March everyone!

Today is Rosenmontag (Rose Monday or Carnival Monday) here in Germany. It's that day of the year where everyone dresses up, gets drunk and sings along to "Ballermann" music. As a kid I loved Carnival and dressing up (mostly, because my grandma used to sew my costumes every year). Today, Carnival is not for me anymore. The good thing about it is that we get Rosenmontag off, so I am currently enjoying a long weekend :)
It's been a while since I wrote about my favorite nail care products. Quite a bit has changed, so I decided to give you an update about my essential nail care items.
