New In My Stash Vol.7

Hi everyone!

I have been slacking on the nail art lately and I am sorry for skipping another day of the April Nail Art Challenge. I haven't been feeling my best those past couple of days, plus work and job hunting kept me super busy, too. Today is another of those "meh" days and honestly I am not in the mood to paint my nails. Still I wanted to blog and thought it was about time for another What's New In My Stash post. This time this is only about nail polish. I did buy some make up items those past few months, but these I will show you in a separate haul post, so stay tuned for that! If you want to know which polishes moved into my stash recently, read on after the jump!

Nail Art April ~ Drybrush manicure

Happy hump day everyone!

I hope you're all having a good week so far!
The prompt in the "totally doable I have a life" nail art challenge for day 23 is a drybrush manicure, which is also known as distressed nails. It is a very easy, yet effective and cool technique. For a detailed tutorial head over to Sarah from Chalkboard Nails. I decided to go with metallic colors for my design.

Nail Art April ~ Easter Manicure #Fail

Happy Easter everyone!

I hope you all are having a good time, whether you're celebrating or not. We are not really celebrating Easter, but later today we are going to have a barbeque. We just have to take advantage of the perfect Sunday weather!
You might have noticed that I skipped the Easter Egg theme for Nail Art April. I wanted to paint my nails on Thursday evening after work, but while I was on my way home that day I got a terrible headache and stuffed-up nose. I really didn't feel like painting my nails that evening. Gladly, the next morning after 12 hours of sleep I felt better already.
For this year's Easter manicure I knew I wanted to use a pastel color and do some stamping. On a recent trip to Regensburg I stopped by at Kiko to pick up their new Cupcake Lacquer range. These remind me of the Nicole by OPI Roughles collection. They are matte textured polishes in pastel shades with multicolor specks in it. For my design I chose 652 Lilac, which I already really liked by itself. Then I made the huge mistake to pull out my stamping plates and add a few Easter designs...

Nail Art April ~ Peeps feat. OPI Sheer Tints

Welcome to day 14 of the April nail art challenge!
The prompt for today is Peeps. When I first read "Peeps" I had no idea what that was supposed to be. So I googled a bit and it turned out Peeps are marshmallow chicks (or bunnies, pumpkins, hearts...) that come in a variety of colors and flavors. They seem to be sold only in the US and Canada, hence I have never heard of them before (they look delicious though, especially these chocolate mousse ones ;D).
I have been wanting to use my OPI Sheer Tints ever since I got them a couple of weeks ago and this theme was the perfect opportunity! I think these four polishes represent the colors of the marshmallow peeps perfectly!

Nail Art April ~ Chevron

Happy Friday everyone!

I hope y'all had a great week and have an even greater weekend ahead of you! I have to go to the lab tomorrow morning, but afterwards I have some fun stuff coming up. At my local MAC counter I recently won a complete application and this weekend I am finally going to take advantage of that. I don't know which look I will be going for, but I guess the girls at the counter will come up with something I like. Afterwards I am going to a colleague's stag party. That should be fun :)
But first things first. Today is day 11 of the April Nail Art challenge by CaliforNails and the theme is chevrons. It was pretty much a no brainer to use my new OPI polishes from the recent Brazil collection - I just love the colors! And I finally had an excuse to use my chevron vinyls from MakeitStickDesigns.

Nail Art April ~ Favorite

Hello everyone!

Today is day 3 of the totally doable April nail art challenge and the prompt for this day is "Favorite". I went with my favorite color for this Spring season, which is orange. I love this color, it is so juicy and fun, but it can be hard to pull off. I was told everyone can wear orange, you just have to find the right shade that goes with your skintone. Honestly, when it comes to nail polish I don't care if that color goes well with my skin or not - I just wear what I like! So when I saw pictures of OPI Toucan Do It If You Try from their recent Brazil collection, I knew I need this polish in my life!

Nail Art April ~ Weather

Happy Saturday!

Today is day two in the Nail Art April challenge and today's theme is weather. Over here, we have contrary weather most of the time in April. One day the sun is shining, the other day it can be raining cats and dogs. At the moment it is actually really nice and sunny. Fingers crossed it will stay like this!
For today's nails I wanted to do stamped skittles with a sun, rain and cloud design. Well, it turned out that despite the plenty of nail art plates I own, there was only a rain drop design on them and no suns or such - note to self: must get an image plate with suns and clouds soon!

Nail Art April ~ Autism Awareness

Hello folks!

This month I am taking the "Totally Doable I Have A Life! Challenge". While I like nail art challenges, I cannot keep up with the ones that require to paint your nails every single day of the month. So this one created by CaliforNails is perfect for me. I think this is thought to be an Instagram challenge, but I figured why not share my manicures with my fellow blog readers as well!?
So the first prompt for today is Autism. As you might know, April is Autism Awareness month that has been introduced by the Autism Society back in 1970. I personally don't have a case of autism among family or friends, but still I find it important to spread the word about such a prevalent disease. Since the launch of the Light It Up Blue compaign, blue is the color of Autism Awareness, so I combined a bright blue with the puzzle piece ribbon.
