Urban Outfitters ~ Sea Dust

Hi there!

During my last trip to the US I went to Urban Outfitters to get a few of their nail polishes. One I had laid eyes on was Sea Dust, which is supposed to be a dupe of Deborah Lippmann's Mermaid's Dream - a nail polish that has been on my wishlist forever, but I could never justify paying the hefty 18-22€ price tag. Urban Outfitters polishes in the US are $5 each or $8 for two. While they are not 100% dupes, they're close enough for me, especially considering the price difference. For a detailed comparison of Mermaid's Dream and Sea Dust head over to Mara in Polishland.

Glam Polish ~ Conjuring

Hi everyone!

I hope all is well at your end of the world. We had a rough evening/night yesterday. There was a massive thunderstorm going on with up to 100 liter rain per m² (in just 3 hours!). Streets and basements were flooded, transport systems collapsed and two people even died. The water is slowly receding, but it's only now that we can start to see the whole damage the weather has caused. Fingers crossed thing will be back to normal soon!

On to happier things! I have recently discovered my love for Australian indie polishes. Brands like Femme Fatale, Arcane Lacquer or Emily De Molly make some of the prettiest indies around I find. Too bad they're not as easy to get hold of here. However, I was able to sneak in a few with my last Harlow & Co. order. Rather randomly I picked Glam Polish - Conjuring, since you can never go wrong with a good green polish. And man, I am so glad I bough this beauty!

Red Nails, Silver Tips

Hello everyone!

One of my favorite German nail polish bloggers is Lackfein. Her hands and nails are just straight out fabulous. On her Instagram she recently shared a video showing how she creates these delicate French tips on her nails. I just love the look of this and tried to recreate this manicure with different colors.

KBShimmer ~ I Got A Crush On Blue

Hi everyone!

With my last purchase from Harlow & Co. I finally snagged a few KBShimmer polishes. One of them was I Got A Crush On Blue, which has been on my wish list ever since I saw Nicole from YoungWildAndPolished do a glitter sandwich with it.

OPI ~ Down To The Core-al

Hi everyone!

I have already complained about the fact that this summer's neon collections from the main nail polish brands like OPI or Essie were not neon. And I still argue that most of the shades do not deserve to be called neon. They're bright, no doubt about that, but not your highlighter color you'd expect in such a collection. But then OPI - Down To The Core-al came along to proof me wrong. This bright hot coral color with its hot pink shimmer is bright enough to be considered neon and has easily become my favorite polish from the Neon collection

#instafood Vol.4 ~ Low Carb Pancakes

Happy Sunday everyone!

I hope you're all having a great weekend so far. I am literally melting here behind my computer screen. This weekend we're having temperatures in the 90s°F (around 30-35°C) which is way too hot for my liking. So I am hiding inside with the blinds shut to keep as much heat outside as possible. I might go out and get some ice cream later this afternoon, though ;)

Today I have another quick and easy recipe to share with you. When I posted a photo of my low carb pancakes with red berries on Instagram, a few people asked for the recipe. To be fair, I did not invent this recipe. I found it on a German website called EatSmarter. At first I was afraid the mouthfeel of these pancakes would be different and unusual, but I was surprised that these were almost the same consistency as my regular pancakes. So if you like pancakes but want to cut out the carbs, this might be perfect for you.

[Review] Underground Nails ~ Quickie Topcoat

Hello everyone,

A few months ago I was sent a few items from the lovely Minnie from Underground Cosmetics (formerly called Funky Nails). One of the products was her fast drying topcoat called Quickie. I wanted to test it thoroughly and after months of using it I feel ready to share my thoughts on it with you now.

Models Own ~ Beach Bag

Hi there!

When I was in London last month I picked up a few nail polishes from Models Own. I had seen swatches of their Polish for Tans collection on Brit Nails and fell in love with them. In contrast to the OPI or Essie summer collections, these are REALLY neon and bright. When I finally got the opportunity to shop at a Models Own Bottle Shop and saw all these colors in person, I couldn't decide which color to get. I ended up buying the bright peach shade called Beach Bag. Doesn't it just look lovely in the bottle?! But then I put it on...

Northern Lights Nail Sticker

Hello everyone!

Sometimes I am in need for a quick manicure, but do not have the time to wait for my nail color to dry. That is when full nail stickers or appliques come in handy. On Born Pretty Store I came across these stickers with a Northern Lights design. I have always wanted to go to Norway and see the northern lights, also called Aurora Borealis, in person. What kept me from going is the costs and the cold, haha. So for now, northern lights on my nails will have to do.

OPI ~ Life Gave Me Lemons

Hello everyone!

Every Spring I anticipate the release of the neon collections. I still swoon over the China Glaze Summer Neons from last year, the Poolside collection that was released way back in 2010 or Orly's Feel The Vibe from 2012. That last collection contained some serious hightlighter neon shades! But this year, after seeing lots of swatches and reading reviews, it seems that something is off. The neon collections from OPI, Essie and China Glaze are not neon - bummer! They still are pretty colors, so some of them ended up on my wishlist anyway. One of them was Life Gave Me Lemons from OPI's Neon collection, so I was uber happy to find this in the mail the other day.

London ~ Shopping Tips

Hello there,

in the beginning of June I went on a four day trip to London with my boyfriend. We were mainly there for sight-seeing, but of course you also gotta do some shopping when you have the chance, right?! So I went on a major shopping spree and you can see the outcome here
Quite a few of you asked for good places to shop in London, so I thought I'd share with you my favorite places to hunt for nail polish, beauty items and food!

My Polish Stash got a face lift

Happy Sunday peeps!

After quite some tweaking my new blog design is finally up and running smoothly. That is why I have been absent this past week. I have been wanting a new blog layout for a while now, but I do not know anything about html or programming in general, so I decided to get a pre-made blogger template and adjust it according to my needs. I am pretty happy with how this new sleek layout came out and I hope you will like it just as much as I do! Thanks to Kate from 17th Avenue Designs for the great customer service!

Also, I switched from the Intense Debate commenting system to Disqus. Disqus allows me to import my old comments from Blogger and it also works with the mobile version of my theme (which isn't the case for Intense Debate). The only thing I cannot figure out is how to add the comment count to my blog posts. So if any of my fellow bloggers uses Disqus and knows how to to it, please let me know!

From now on I will be back to my regular posting schedule. You can expect new posts every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday at this spot (unless something unforeseen happens).

Wishing you a happy day and thanks for reading!
