Catrice ~ Metallicious from the Metallure LE

I haven't bought any Catrice nail polish in quite a while. When I saw the press release for their Metallure limited edition, I was intrigued by the packaging. When I checked out the products in store, I was a bit disappointed, because everything was so frosty and shimmery. Still I took one of their polishes home with me, because I thought a metallic nail polish would work well for stamping. The shade I bought is called Metallicious and is a darkened gold with a hint of olive green.

#LLWeirdScience ~ Cosmic Latte Galaxy Nails

Hi everyone!

It is time for another round of Lacquer Legion, a monthly nail art challenge organized by Sarah from Chalkboard Nails, Sammy from The Nailasaurus, Leslie from work/play/polish and Rebecca from Rebecca Likes Nails. The prompt for this month was Weird Science and being a (weird) scientist myself, I had to take part. If you do not want to read about the scientific background of my manicure, just hit "Click for more" below ;)

You're probably wondering, what the heck is Cosmic Latte. No, it is not the latest drink from Starbucks, even though the name was inspired by one of their drinks. According to astronomers from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Cosmic Latte is the average color of the universe. The scientists measured the spectral range of the light from thousands of galaxies and the average color was a very pale yellow/beige. FYI, the hexadecimal RGB value for Cosmic Latte is #FFF8E7.

In order to find a name for the color, the scientists asked for suggestions from the readers of the article published in the Washington Post. While Cappuccino Cosmico received the most votes, they ended up naming it Cosmic Latte, as one of the researchers was reading the Post while drinking a Latte at Starbucks, which had a very similar color. I would have totally gone for Big Bang Buff/Blush/Beige, which was another suggestion :D

Sephora Haul

Good evening!

When Sephora.com announced that they were now shipping to Germany the news came like a thunderbolt and spread like a wildfire across the beauty community. Of course I had to go to their website, add all the things I have been lusting after into my cart and was shocked to see how much money one can spend on make up and skin care items. Instead of ordering I went to bed and decided to make a wishlist of the things I really wanted and set myself a limit of money I'd spend. So here it is, my very first Sephora haul. By the way, I still cannot get over the fact that they do not ship nail polish... Farewell Formula X... sigh....

DIY Nail & Cuticle Oil

Hi everyone!

As a nail polish blogger it is important to me to always have neat and healthy nails and cuticles. To always keep my hands in perfect condition, I use hand lotion and cuticle balms or oils on a regular basis. Therefore, I keep several hand care products at home, in my purse and at work (I am currently using 5 or 6 different hand lotions, 3 cuticle balms and 2 oils, so it is safe to say I am obsessed with hand care...).

When I first started out in nail polish, the very first product I fell in love with was CND's Solar Oil. The light oil with the marzipan scent still is a staple in my nail care collection. Sadly, this is not easily available here in Germany and oftentimes I run out of it before I manage to order online. Looking at the ingredients of several nail oils I have used up until now I thought it should not be too hard to make one myself at home. The recipe below has been tried and tested by me for a while now and I hope you will find it useful! After the recipe I included a little background information on the components of this oil, in case you are interested in what is doing what to your skin :)

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine ~ Greenberry

Good evening everyone!

I am back with another Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine polish for you. The UK nail polish brand first introduced these back in mid-2012. Gelly does not refer to a jelly finish, but to a gel-like, glossy effect. Greenberry was part of their Gellies for Spring 2013, but as far as I know all the Gelly shades that have been released until now are permanent.

New In My Stash Vol. 8

Hi everyone,

it is time for another round of New In My Stash, where I show you my most recent nail polish purchases. I last did such a new in my stash post back in April and looking at what I bough during those past 4 months I must say I have been a really good girl (ignoring the fact that I already ordered twice from Sephora.com now that they ship to Germany...).
So without further ado, let us dive right in and let the pictures do the talking!

90's Neon Nails

Hey everyone,

this year three of my friends turned 30 and they decided to organize a 90s party together, which took place last weekend. Since I turned 30 this March, too, they also asked me to join, but a 120s party does not sound quite as cool, does it!?
We were supposed to dress up in 90s fashion, but sadly (or rather thank god, just think neon crop tops, platform shoes and flashy windbreakers... yikes) I did not keep any of my outfits from then. So I went with 90s appropriate nails instead.

Stripes and dots and a little glitter with Sally Hansen ~ Pacific Blue & Coral Reef

Hi everyone!

It wasn't until the uproar in the nail polish community that I heard of Sally Hansen ~ Pacific Blue. When it emerged that the brand had changed the formula of the polish but kept the name, everyone started complaining and begging Sally Hansen to keep the original version. What was so special about this nail polish? I had to know! So I went browsing the internet and it seems that Pacific Blue was the perfect dusty cobalt blue creme polish with a fantastic formula.

My friend Iris read my lamenting on Twitter about the good polishes not being available here in Germany and she was so kind to send me a bottle of Pacific Blue together with Coral Reef, a pretty coral creme shade from the same Xtreme Wear range. I thought these two colors looked great together, so I created a skittle manicure inspired by a manicure on YoungWildandPolished's Instagram.
