Best Of 2014 ~ Favorite Nail Polishes

Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a great time celebrating New Year's Eve and had a great start into 2015!
Before we dive into my favorite nail polishes of 2014, I want to take the time to say thank you. Thank you for sticking around, reading my rambly posts, looking at my successful and not so successful attempts in nail art and for leaving nice comments on this little blog of mine! I have been blogging for a little over three years now and I couldn't have done it without you! I would still be blogging, even if no one was reading it, but it certainly is more fun when there is feedback from readers. So if there is something you would like to see more of on here, if you have suggestions on how to improve this blog, do not hesitate to let me know via the comments, twitter, Google+ etc.
And now, let us have a look at my most loved polishes of 2014. I put them in alphabetical order and there are indie as well as main stream brands in there.

Arcane Lacquer - An Amorous Disposition
This raspberry pink jelly with silver, red and black glitter quickly won over my heart. The color is so pretty and sparkly and the formula is a bliss to work with! Sadly, this has been discontinued.

The Gelly Hi-Shane range was first introduced in late 2012 and since then, Barry M has added quite a few colors. This bright aqua color was part of their Spring collection 2013, but I only picked it up during my trip to London in June last year. It was love at first sight!

Dance Legend - Holographic top coat
I have been lusting after this top coat for quite some time, but whenever I checked online retailers, it was sold out. So last year I finally bit the bullet and ordered from Dance Legend directly. It took some time for the package to arrive, but when I finally got it, this was the first thing I tried. This topper is perfect to 'holo-fy' all polishes, as it does not alter the base color.

This bright hot pink with blueish flecks was my favorite shade to wear during summer. Looking at this nail polish just makes me happy.

Another Australian indie made it onto my favorites list. This deep forest green with holographic glitter is just amazing - so much depth and sparkle! This was my very first Glam Polish, but it surely won't be my last.

KB Shimmer - Hexy Bikini
2014 was the year of the textured finish and I was all about it! This textured glitterbomb from KB Shimmer is a bit tricky to apply, but the uber sparkly result is worth the effort!

Speaking of textured nail polish... This one was released for the Holidays 2013, but I wore it first in early 2014. It is the perfect teal shade with the perfect textured finish - not too smooth and not too gritty.

OPI - Red Fingers And Mistletoes
This one is a recent purchase and I have word it only once, but I consider it one of my faves for 2014 anyway. This jelly red base with the golden shimmer glows from within.

P2 - California Girl
To me it seems the P2 nail polish range is often overlooked in German drugstores. In 2014, this brand really stepped up their game and released some really good polishes, like an OPI Alcatraz Rocks dupe or their popular Winter, Who Cares glitter polishes. Personally, I really enjoyed the polishes from their Volume Gloss range, particularly the turquoise California Girl.

Sally Hansen - Pacific Blue
I only discovered this gem last year. Perfect color, perfect formula. Nuff said.

Smitten Polish - Elixir
This deep teal shade with small holographic glitter was an impulse buy, but I did not regret it. The formula is nice and the color is right up my alley.

Last but not least is this deep purple beauty. Again, this was released in late 2013, but I only wore it in early 2014. I have a feeling this might be one of my all time favorite nail polishes. Just look at it and you'll know what I mean!

Zoya - Payton_2

So these are my top 12 polishes of 2014. Which polishes made it into your favorites this year? Wishing you all the best for 2015, may it hold nothing but good things (and lots of nail polish ;) ) for you!

  1. That Zoya. Oh WOW. I was drooling over them all but when I got to that one - no contest! Beautiful. Can't wait to see what 2015 brings in the world of polish, I had so little time last year so hopefully I'll be able to get back into it this year :)

  3. Thank you for your fabuluos swatches of the beautiful polishes. I like that you have a varied color and finish (cream/texture/etc) range. I don't know how you get it down to 10 polishes! I look at mine and start "You. And you. And you." and it just goes on and on! Keep up the great work and wish you the best in 2015!

Love the Zoya and the Nicole (but I hate their brushes) and all the P2's I've picked up in Germany have been fab.

  7. It is great to hear you got the chance to try P2 nail polishes! I really like their Volume Gloss range, but their limited editions are pretty, too!
So far, I have not had any problems with the Zoya or NOPI polishes, but I adree the Zoya brush is a bit too skinny for my liking.

  9. Thank you so much, I am glad you enjoyed the post! I had fun putting it together, but it is also very hard to limit myself to a reasonable number of polishes :D There are sooo many awesome polishes being released every year.
