Alright, do not forget to breathe, even though this nail polish is truly breathtaking. Have you ever seen such a perfect silver holographic nail polish before? I am not the biggest fan of plain silver on my nails, but this one is so different from every other silver holographic nail polish I have tried.
Orly Mirrorball was released as part of the Sparkle Holiday 2014 collection. It is a densely packed holographic silver polish. There is both a linear and a scattered holographic effect, thanks to small silver hexes in the base. The formula is very nice and easy to work with. Shown here are two coats without top coat. I skipped a top coat, because I wanted to show you the full holographic goodness, and some top coats can dull the effect. My base is plain white liquid latex, which works perfectly as a peel-off base for swatching. If you're interested in reading more about liquid latex aka Liquid Palisade, see this post here.
I was lucky enough to snap these images in bright daylight, which brings out the best in holographic polishes. In sunlight, Orly Mirrorball is almost blinding, because it is so sparkly. Even indoors the holographic effect is visible, but not as intense. My photos aren't doing this beauty justice. I really need to find the right settings on my camera to fully capture the holographic effect.
For your pleasure, I have introduced a brush stroke picture of Orly Mirrorball. I first saw these on Instagram and love the look of them. It nicely shows the polish without actually putting it on the nails.
If you do not have your bottle of Orly Mirrorball, you can get it from their online shop or other online retailers such as Transdesign or Amazon. For my German readers, it is available at Orly Germany's webshop or Cambree.de (that's where I got mine from).
