Studded Biker Nail Design

studded nail design

Happy Sunday peeps!
I hope you all are having a fabulous weekend so far. Today I have for you a rock/biker inspired manicure I have been meaning to do for a while. I have seen various designs using spikey studs before and being a metal fan at heart, I had to try them myself. When the Blogger PR from Born Pretty Store asked if I wanted to try some of their products, it was the perfect opportunity to test out these silver spike studs. I decided to combine them in a black and silver manicure with biker themed stamping designs. Read on after the jump to learn how I created my studded biker nails.

As a base, I painted my nails with two coats of Spun in Luxe from the Essie Cashmere Matte collection. This deep dark navy blue with its shimmer gives the manicure more depth than just a plain black creme. Since this is a matte/satin finish nail polish, it dried fast and I did not have to apply a fast drying top coat before stamping.

The biker designs I chose for this manicure are from MoYou Biker plate 08 and the silver polish I used for stamping is from the Essence Stampy range. I really like this silver for stamping, because it is so easy to work with. I think it has been discontinued by now, but there are various other silver nail polishes out there that work well for stamping.

For the silver stripe in the middle of my ring finger nail I applied two strips of striping tape and filled the area in with the same silver polish I used for stamping. After letting the silver designs dry for a bit, I applied one layer of Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat and let that dry. As a last step, I simply applied the spike studs with a drop of nail glue.

Overall, I am really happy with how this manicure came out. I will say, though, that the spike studs are not very practical. They get caught on everything (preferably tights and knitted sweaters) and I was in constant danger of accidentally scratching myself or someone else with them. Hence, I took them off after 24h, even though they would have lasted longer than that. If you would like to try them anyway, or get something else from the huge nail art assortment over at Born Pretty Store, you can save 10% using the code KYL91.
