Review - Bliss Kiss Simply Pure & Sweet Baby Nail Oil

bliss kiss simply pure review

A while ago on my Instagram account I shared with you the result of my initial 5 day challenge using Bliss Kiss nail oil. I have been using both the Bliss Kiss and the Sweet Baby by Donna nail care oil daily since then and today I finally want to share a thorough review of the products.

Let's start with the before. Above you see my nails about 4 months ago. They are naturally quite strong and it has never been a problem for me to grow them quite long. Every now and then I snapped a nail (the soap dispenser at work is my favorite tool of destruction, but slamming my nails into something isn't far behind) and had to file them down. Being a blogger means I paint my nails and remove nail polish several times a week. Did you know there is a right and a wrong way to remove nail polish to prevent stainings? Even though I always use acetone-free nail polish remover, it is pretty drying on my nails and cuticles and I have to moisturize often. Before I discovered Bliss Kiss and Sweet Baby nail oil, I used the Glisten & Glow nail and cuticle butter on a regular basis. Thus, my nails weren't in a terrible condition before I started using my new nail oil. There were some dry flakes of skin around my nails. My nail plate looked dull and rough, almost flaky in some areas and had some ridges.

I started out my journey by doing Ana's 3-Day hydration treatment. What I basically did was applying Bliss Kiss Simply Pure oil to my nails and cuticles whenever I had a chance for three consecutive days. The photo above was taken on day 5, simply because I did not have the opportunity to take a photo on day 3. Already after this short period of time I noticed some drastic differences in my nails. The dry flakes of skin around my nails were gone. My nail plate looked shiny and the flakies had disappeared. My proximal nail fold looked much smaller and tighter. Overall, my nails and cuticles looked much healthier.

After my initial hydration treatment, I started using the Sweet Baby by Donna oil in conjunction with Bliss Kiss Simply Pure oil. Because my Sweet Baby oil came in a big dropper bottle, I only used it at home, mostly in the evening when I was watching TV. The Bliss Kiss oil is available in a neat brush pen, which is really handy for on the go. So when I was at work or out and about, I used the Bliss Kiss oil 2-3 times a day. Pictured above are my nails after 4 weeks of using the nail oils. They have grown quite a bit and my free edges were thick and healthy.

After six weeks of using Bliss Kiss and Sweet Baby oil my nails grew and remained longer. There hasn't been a single crack, tear or break since I started using these products. I also haven't had a hangnail and my cuticles looked tight and moisturized.

This image was taken just a few days ago, after a total of 4 months of using Bliss Kiss and Sweet Baby nail oil. I have changed my nail shape in the meantime, just because I needed a change and felt like rocking pointy nails for a while (by the way, I really think they suit me better. They look more female on me and make my fingers appear longer). I haven't had a break in those 4 months and am seriously impressed. Obviously, I did file my nails every now and then, that is why they aren't longer (plus, pointy nails appear shorter than square nails of the same length). The skin around my nails, especially on my middle finger, is as pretty and tight as it has ever been. My nails are thick and flexible, which means they withstand bending without breaking or tearing.

So far, I have only shown you my left non-dominant hand which serves as a model on my blog. My right cinderella hand has to perform more work and isn't always in a perfect condition. Bliss Kiss oil even helped tightening the skin around my nails on my right hand and none of the nails has had a break since I started using the oil regularly. It is safe to say I am a fan of these products! I will continue using Bliss Kiss oil at work and Sweet Baby oil when I am at home in the evening  to maintain this condition.

By the way, I have not used any other nail treatment for the last 4 months. In the past, I have tried several nail hardeners to prevent breaking and peels. I tried OPI Nail Envy, Nail Magic and Duri Rejovacote. While all these products did harden my nails, they did not prevent breakage. Christine from Simplynailogical has written about her experiences with nail strengtheners vs. nail oil and Ana nicely explains why nail strengtheners are not the way to go if you want longer nails. I simply use a regular base coat like Essie Nourish Me under all my manis and apply nail oil around my nails when they are painted. Whenever my nails are bare and after removing an old manicure, I massage the oil into my nails and cuticles.
Both nail oils are based on jojoba wax ester and quite similar in ingredients, consistency and perform equally well. I could not chose a favorite, so I will continue to use both interchangeably.

  1. I have bliss kiss and while I haven't been as lucky as you with regard to breaks, or lack thereof, it's probably my own fault for not using it enough. I'm forgetful!
I have unscented and Winter which is beautiful! I also like that you can test out each of the scents for just 50 cents.

  2. So, Bliss Kiss ist ja jetzt bestellt. ;-)

  4. I used the Bliss Kiss oil last year, but did not really follow the instructions. Now that I use it regularly, it really helps my nails staying healthy. I got the scent samples with my last order, too, and for 50 cents you get quite some product!
