Essie - Saltwater Happy & Chillato nail art

Hello everyone,
yes, my nails are back to square nubbins. Last week I broke two nails, one on my left and one on my right hand. I did not feel like putting on fake nails and wait until the short nails have grown out, so I chopped all my nails down. Let me tell you, the stiletto shape is high maintenance and throws you back a lot when you break a nail. That being said, I really liked that nail shape on me, so I will do my best to grow them back! Until then we have to roll with square medium length nails.

Last week I finally found the Essie Summer collection at my local drugstore. Its name giver, the bright Peach Side Babe, had already sold out. Hence I went with the pastel shades Saltwater Happy, a delicate blue, and Chillato, a light yellow with a hint of green.
Yellows never go well with my skin tone and instead of wearing it by itself I decided to make a gradient with the two shades. As a base I applied one layer of Barry M Gelly in Cotton, a clean white color. After that had dried I sponged on the gradient using Chillato and Saltwater Happy. Chillato was especially sheer, so I had to do three rounds of sponging to make it opaque.

To add a little something to the yellow and blue gradient I stamped on a wavy fish scale pattern (or what else would you call this pattern?) from MoYou London Sailor plate 05 using Essence Stampy polish in 001 stamp me! white. For this stamping I used my new b.lovesplates jelly stamping head. I am totally obsessed with this thing! It fits my black doubled sided XL stamper, but compared to the white stamper head it originally came with, the one from b.lovesplates did not need any priming at all. It picked up all images right from the start. I am not an expert at stamping and in the past I found it quite dreadful, because I had a hard time picking up the images properly (they were distorted, had patches etc). Now I know that it is not just the right polish that makes a good result, but also the right stamper head - I definitely have found mine and already ordered another backup.

I hope you enjoy this delicate nail design! Have you bought anything from the Essie Peach Side Babe collection?

  1. Also ich finde den Gradienten samt Stamping super! Passt perfekt.
