While I am not a person that matches her nail polish colors to the season, I prefer wearing neons during summer when the sun is out. I recently did a dry brush manicure with some of the colors from the Beach Boys collection by Colores de Carol. I liked the colors so much that I had to do another manicure with them.
The main color in this marbled chevron manicure is the neon magenta creme called Fun Fun Fun from the Colores de Carol Beach Boys collection. I painted two coats on my index and pinky nail and applied one layer of Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat to give it a shiny finish. For a little something I added small black round studs to the base of the nails while the top coat was still wet.
On my middle and ring finger I started out with two coats of Essie White Page from the Silk Watercolor collection, applied one coat of HK Girl and let that dry completely (approx. 20-30 minutes). Afterwards, I applied chevron vinyls. I do not know where I got these, but nowadays there are numerous shops out there that stock vinyls in various designs and you should have no troubles finding some (I like to order mine from She Sells Sea Shells or Hypnotic Polish, but I have heard good things about TwinkledT vinyls, too.) Over the vinyls I dotted Essie Splash of Grenadine (lighter magenta pink), Douglas Absolute Nails Lara (shimmery navy blue) and Fun Fun Fun. To obtain the marble effect I placed cling film over the nails and lightly padded with my finger to mix the three polishes. To finish everything off I again applied a layer of HK Girl.
Sadly Essie's Splash of Grenadine is a bit lost among the bright magenta and the dark navy. This medium magenta creme polish is an oldie but a goodie. It first came out in the Resort Collection 2010, but it was Essie Button who drew my attention to this polish last year. It is not availble in the standard range here in Germany, so I ordered it from Beauty Bay. The formula is on the sheer side, so it got outnumbered by the other colors in this manicure. To do it justice I will wear it on its own and show it to you soon.
If you like neons and want to check out the Beach Boys collection, it is available in Carolina's store and a bottle retails for $10. She ships internationally.
I checked the Douglas (German perfumery chain) website, but it seems the Absolute Nails range is not available anymore. Too bad, because it was known for releasing Chanel nail polish dupes. If you're looking for a dark navy shimmer polish, e.l.f. Dark Navy or BB Couture Midnight Desire is similar.
I had so much fun creating this manicure and it was easy to achieve. I hope you like this magenta and navy marbled chevron nail design as much as I do. With this, I wish you a happy Friday and a great weekend.
