Good evening everyone, today I have a polish for you that does not quite go with the summer theme. No wonder, because it was released as part of a Halloween duo last year. But because it is a holographic polish that shows its full beauty only in direct sunlight - which we rarely get in Fall/Winter - it is totally appropriate to wear during Summer.
This black jelly polish loaded with fine holographic microglitter is Cauldron Bubble by Smitten Polish. I have been eyeing this polish for a while, but when it first came out, it sold out fast. Only with my most recent order at European stockist Hypnotic Polish was I able to purchase this beauty. It is not a pure black. In the bottle it has a clearly visible purple tone to it. On my nails in direct sunlight it looked mostly black though. I like the scattered holographic effect in Cauldron Bubble, because it reminds me of a clear night sky.
The formula of Cauldron Bubble is good. It is on the thicker side, but absolutely manageable and still easy to control. For a jelly, it is decently pigmented. It is a bit sheer on the first coat, but a second coat makes it completely opaque. It dries to a slightly textured finish, but that is nothing a good coat of top coat cannot fix. The swatches here are with one layer of Underground Cosmetics Quickie top coat.
As mentioned above, I got my bottle from Hypnotic Polish. When you google for it, the result shows up but when you click the link it says "page not found". It seems Smitten Polish Cauldron Bubble is out of stock over there. You can still get it at Edgy Polish, which is based in Sweden.
How do you like black holographic polishes?
