ILNP - Summer Crush

indie pink nail polish

How did you know cause I never told - You found out I've got a crush on you - No more charades my heart's been displayed - You found out I've got a crush on you

Why does this song pop up in my head while I am typing this post about ILNP - Summer Crush? I was 14 when that song by Aaron Carter was released and even 17 years later it is still stuck in my head. Why do the most annoying songs always creep into the windings of my brain?! Anyone else experiencing this? Anyways, let us talk about this amazing summer nail polish before more of those dreadful 90s songs resurface from the depths of my memory.

Summer Crush was part of the ILNP Summer 2015 collection. It is a hot neon pink creme with holographic microglitter and glass flecks. I was not sure about this when I saw swatches of it online, but now I am glad I ordered Summer Crush. It is the perfect nail polish for summer - so vibrant and sparkly.

The formula of ILNP Summer Crush was a bit tricky to work with. After two coats it was still patchy so I added a third to get even coverage. Maybe you can get it to cover perfectly with two thick coats. I prefer thin coats as it prevents bubbles and makes my mani last longer. Summer Crush does dry to a satin finish. Swatches shown are plus Underground Nails Quickie top coat to get a shiny finish.

While ILNP is known for their ultra holographic nail polishes, the effect in Summer Crush is subtle. I am glad they did not load the base with holo pigment, because the hot pink color is loud enough and does not need anything extra. I love that they added sparkly glass flecks to the base and I wish we'd see more polishes with this finish (I am looking at you China Glaze, kings/queens of the glass fleck polishes). More holo pigment would have taken away from the super pretty glass flecks.
Below is a shot of Summer Crush in the shade which shows the depth this polish has.

Summer Crush and the rest of the ILNP Summer 2015 collection is still available on their website. I do not know if these are limited edition or permanent. They do ship internationally, but their polishes are also available from other stockists. In Europe ILNP is available from Hypnotic Polish.
