When I saw the promo pictures of the Essie winter collection called Virgin Snow I was sure I wouldn't be getting any of those shades. I mean, the colors itself looked nice, but I certainly did not need another red nail polish (and I find lots of Essie's reds to be similar looking) and I am not in the market for silver foils or baby pinks either. Still I had to check out the collection as soon as it was released in German drugstores. I ended up buying a shade that is quite unusual for me, because I never fall for pastel colors as they hardly look good against my skin tone. Hence, I was surprised how much I liked Essie Virgin Snow on me.
Essie Virgin Snow is a pale lavender creme nail polish. The formula felt a bit watery and runny. It looked patchy on the first coat, yet it covered evenly with two coats. Swatches shown are with one layer of Quickie top coat from Underground Cosmetics.
It can be hard to find a good pastel polish that does not require three coats to cover evenly and that does not look chalky. Formular- and color-wise Essie did a good job with Virgin Snow. However, it bugs me that once more the European version looks different than the US version. In the US Virgin Snow is a baby blue color, which I would have loved even more. I really do not know why the delicate shades differ between the US and Europe (think Fiji, Mint Candy Apple, Find Me An Oasis...). Does anybody know? I'll try to investigate ;-)
The Essie Virgin Snow collection for Winter 2015 is out now in German drugstores. You can also get it online from Douglas.de. They usually go fast, so better hurry if you want to grab a bottle. They retail for 7,95€.
Did you pick up anything from the Virgin Snow collection?
Thanks a lot for reading, have a great Sunday! xx
