I told you Pinot Noir would be making another appearance in my personal 24 days of Christmas challenge and who would have thought it would be so soon. I just had to share this perfection in a bottle on its own as soon as possible.
Il était un vernis is a relatively new French indie nail polish brand founded by two French bloggers. Their polishes are manufactured in a lab in Australia and they are 5-free (no formaldehyde, no toluene, no DBP, no formaldehyde resin, no camphor) and vegan.
Their first collection called Once Upon a Time was released in late 2014 and I have been a fan ever since. Their Grand Crus collection for Fall 2015 is my favorite so far. I got three out of the five shades, but I might have to go and get the remaining two, too.
Pinot Noir is an intense ruby red color with a holographic shimmer effect. The color is just so so pretty! The shimmer adds a lot of depth to it and makes it look like it is glowing from within. I just cannot stop staring at it <3
Not only is the color of Pinot Noir amazing, the formula does not disappoint either. Well, that is an understatement, because in fact the formula is one of the best I have ever seen. Firstly, it is pigmented and a one coater. For the swatches I did two thin coats with top coat, though. Secondly, it is super easy to control and applies beautifully. The brush is just right - a medium flat brush that works for wide and narrow nails alike.
Man, Il était un vernis killed it with this polish! Pinot Noir is a must have in my opinion, whether you're a nail polish hoarder like me or just the occasional nail painter. I do not know if their Grand Crus collection is limited or permanent, so better grab it while you can!
How do you like Pinot Noir? Have you tried anything from this French indie brand? I'd love to hear about your experiences with the brand.
Thanks for reading, see you tomorrow!
