Happy hump day! Today I have for you an impulse buy from the drugstore. If you have been following my blog for a while you might have heard me talk about the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel system and how I am not a huge fan of the range. Some polishes go on patchy, the top coat adds ridges to the color and it does not last longer than a regular manicure. However, when I saw the limited edition sets in my local drugstore I had one weak moment (or two, but that is a different story) and somehow Ruby Shimmers went into my shopping cart.
Sally Hansen Ruby Shimmers is a raspberry pink jelly base loaded with matching tiny glitter and medium sized opalescent hexagonal glitters. The base itself is on the sheer side, so I had to paint on three coats for full coverage. Ruby Shimmer does dry to a slightly textured finish and one thick coat of the Miracle Gel top coat was not enough to smooth it out completely, as you might notice in some of the pictures.
Even though this set consisting of color and top coat is kind of pricey (14,95€ at DM drugstores) and Ruby Shimmers started to chip after three days of wear, I am glad I picked this one up. The color is lovely and will suit many skin tones. What sold me on this one was the effect the microglitter had. This is one of those nail polishes that seems to glow from within and the opalescent glitter adds something special to the look of Ruby Shimmers, too. I do not have anything like this in my collection and cannot think of something that is close to the look of it.
How do you like Ruby Shimmers? Do you think Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes are worth the price tag?
