I thought it was a nice idea to kick off this new year with my some of my favorite products from last year. Hence, I put together a couple of posts for you including my favorite main stream brand nail polishes, favorite indie polishes and favorite nail care items.
I have picked products that I have used the most over the year, polishes that have wowed me with their formulas and/or their unique colors.
Today we start with my favorite main stream brands. I have not bought a lot of polishes from big brands. There is no OPI, no Zoya and no Essie among my favorites of 2015. To be honest now that there are so many gorgeous indie nail polish brands out there it is hard for me to find a main stream polish that knocks my socks off. I do however have a handful of colors that I liked a lot, so let's dive right in.
China Glaze - Don't Get Elfed Up
This polish is from China Glaze's recent holiday collection called Cheers!. It is a sheer black base loaded with teal shimmer that shifts to purple at extreme angles. This polish was love at first sight. It required three coats on its own to be opaque. I usually wore two coats of Don't Get Elfed Up over Essie Licorice.
Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine -Cardamom
The Barry M Gelly range holds some of my favorite creme polishes. Their formula is very opaque, super creamy and dries shiny on its own. After swatching this for my favorites I realized this fern green was part of their Winter 2014 collection. I bought it only in the beginning of 2015, so it counts as last year's favorite, right?!
Nails Inc VVB - Bamboo White
To be honest I do not have the best memories related with this polish, because I wore this during a terrible job interview and one of my worst days in 2015. I had to include Bamboo White anyway, because this finally was a nude nail polish I loved a lot. It has a great formula and wears very well. If you want to know more about this beauty, check out my detailed review of Bamboo White by Nails Inc.
Manhattan Last & Shine - Moscow Nights
Manhattan Cosmetics is a German drugstore brand that has been around for a long time. Their nail polishes never caught my eye until they recently reformulated the whole range and improved the packaging. The color Moscow Nights was first released as part of the Bonnie Strange (German It Girl) limited edition and is now part of the permanent range. It is a deep eggplant jelly base with copper shimmer particles. Again, this one has a nice formula and is opaque and squishy with two coats.
Trend it Up Sparkling Glamour - 050
Trend it Up is a new German cosmetic brand exclusive to DM drusgtores. The whole range is very affordable, I have only tried their nail polishes so far, though. This deep brown with copper and gold shimmer sadly is limited edition, but currently it is still available in stores. The formula is nice, the brush is just the right size and applies the polish evenly. My only complaint would be the lack of proper names. All items simply have numbers.
There seems to be a common theme within my favorites this time. I can't help it, I just love the deeper colors of fall collections and the main brands' Spring and Summer shades simply did not win my heart. I still hope you enjoyed this post.
Let me know which are your favorites of 2015 below in the comments. Which polishes do I need to get that I haven't mentioned? Thanks for reading, have a great day. xo
